We’re excited to introduce Phonopolis - a new hand-crafted adventure set in a dystopian city made of cardboard where everybody obeys the oppressive Leader's orders - except for one young man… Enjoy the first teaser trailer! It’s still going to take us a generous amount of time to finish the game - please don’t expect it to come out within the next 12 months - but we’re so glad to finally be able to share the first bits and pieces with you.

You can now add Phonopolis to your Steam wishlist. You'll also find a collection of new screenshots on its Steam page; and on its News hub, there's a post where you can read more about the game's story, inspirations, and creative process. And it's also the place where we'll be sharing further updates ːsamorost_spiritː

The latest Amanita Design game has just landed on Steam!

It’s Happy Game, our darkest, creepiest, and most twisted adventure so far, coming from the team behind Botanicula and CHUCHEL.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1206060/Happy_Game/

Happy Game is an absurd horror adventure game designed by Jaromír Plachý, who previously brought you the family-friendly games Botanicula and CHUCHEL. This time, however, Jaromír decided to make something a little less cheerful, and the result of his team’s work is a psychedelic journey through a little boy’s three horrible nightmares, each with its own style, creatures and puzzles.

Get in the proper mood with the very happy launch trailer:

Once again, we’re very happy to have worked with our favorite Czech music duo DVA, who created all of the spooky sounds and music for Happy Game. The original soundtrack is also available to purchase on Steam and is coming later to streaming services as well.

Please note: Happy Game is not a happy game.

While we’re working our hardest to bring you the full experience as soon as we can, we wanted to share a little sneak peek with you in advance. Happy Game Demo just landed on Steam and will be available on Windows and Mac for the next few days, up until February 9. You can download it now at the game's store page:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1206060/Happy_Game/

Please be aware that the experience can be quite intense. Be particularly cautious if you are sensitive to either flashing imagery, blood, or violence. There's rarely anything but that to see in Happy Game...

Please note: The demo is only playable using a mouse/touchpad.

We’re looking forward to hearing about your thoughts in the comments below or in the game’s forums!

We're very happy to announce Happy Game, the upcoming adventure from the creators of CHUCHEL and Botanicula, and our first actual horror game is coming to Steam and Nintendo Switch next year in spring. You can now add Happy Game to your Steam wishlist. ːchuchelsmileː

Happy Game is a psychedelic horror adventure that departs significantly from Amanita’s charming, family-friendly style. This time, players will find themselves playing as a little boy who experiences a terrible nightmare, passing through three unique worlds filled with playful tasks and puzzles. He won’t be all alone on this trip, though - there are many smiley faces to meet, adorable bunnies to slice with a guillotine greet, or an elusive football to chase. The game is directed by Czech artist, animator, and designer Jaromír Plachý, whose teams previously created Botanicula (2012) and CHUCHEL (2018).

After many, many years of development, Creaks finally landed on Steam. You can now play it on both Windows and Mac, and if you’re into atmospheric, organic-sounding music, you can get the „Collector’s Edition“ that includes the game, original soundtrack from Hidden Orchestra and a digital art book with design sketches from creators Radim Jurda and Jan Chlup.

Hi everyone,

I am excited to finally let you know that Creaks, our latest surreal puzzler, is launching on Steam next Wednesday, July 22! Please check out the game's Steam page and add the game to your wishlist if you like what you see ːsamorost_spiritː

https://store.steampowered.com/app/956030/Creaks/

Creaks takes you on a visit to a mysterious towering mansion, inhabited by eccentric avian folk and strange creatures, which may or may not be as dangerous as they seem. In their animated form, these monsters called creaks are deadly enemies you should always keep your distance from. However, as soon as you manage to trap them under a beam of light, they transform into harmless furniture that might be just as useful when you’re solving many of the game’s elaborate puzzles. Players will meet several types of creaks in the game, and each of them behaves differently - while dogs will chase you on sight and spies will copy or mirror your movement, the jellyfish-like creatures composedly patrol the area.

Inbetween individual levels and challenges, players will get to explore the house for a series of hand-crafted paintings, some of which were carefully hidden in discoverable secret rooms. About a third of the 35 collectible pieces are playable mini-games, taking on the role of little arcade cabinets in the aesthetic of 18th and 19th-century wall art.

A game inspired by the topics of ambiguity and pareidolia - the psychological phenomenon of “seeing things” - Creaks aims to surprise players with its diverse surreal environments, hand-drawn, hand-painted, and carefully animated, as well as refined puzzles. The visual art goes hand-in-hand with music from Brighton-based composer and multi-instrumentalist Joe Acheson, aka Hidden Orchestra. He delivered an eclectic score that adaptively changes based on your progression within each of the game’s levels and often drops the beat to celebrate the moment you finally figure it out. Instruments Joe used on this soundtrack, his first-ever work for a video game, are ranging from zithers and flutes to organs and choirs to modular synthesizers.

Thank you for supporting our games! We're looking forward to hear and read what you think about Creaks. ːmuchomurkaː

Ahoj!

It’s been a while since we posted something in the Botanicula news channel, so I’m really glad to be back with some good news. Yes, 7 years after its initial release in 2012, Botanicula is finally getting a full-screen HD treatment, which basically means it’s going to look much better on your recent high-resolution displays, even if it’s a nice and shiny 4K monitor. It even takes up less space on your hard drive, juchu!

The game still runs in the same engine, so you don’t need to worry about losing your save files. The update is now live for everyone!

World Environment Day
Botanicula is also part of the Steam World Environment Day Sale, along with Samorost 3, Fugl, Mountain, Subnautica and many other great games, in support of organizations like Greenpeace, World Land Trust or The Nature Conservatory. In addition, One Tree Planted will plant a tree for each copy of Playne sold during the event.

I am happy to announce that we are donating 50% of our proceeds from this sale to DUHA, a Czech environmental movement saving the wilderness. Read more about DUHA on their website.

The sale ends on June 7th 16:00 PST / June 8th 01:00 CEST.

Cheers,
Lukas
