Hello new and old players!

Wanted to take a second to thank everyone who has picked up 24K during the Steam Summer Sale! We're trying to hit the 500 review / 98% positive milestone, so I kindly ask that you leave a review.

A 24K performance update was in the works because long sessions can lead to built up memory and possibly crashes on some computers. I've had mixed results in optimization, and Flash development is slow and taxing compared to modern engines. I hope you can forgive me for pausing the development on that. I have a full time job outside of gamedev and I've chosen to allocate my limited free time to working on a new game. If this is plaguing you, a workaround in the meantime is restarting the game if your session is exceeding 4+ hours.

The new game we're working on is a variety puzzle game. Rafael (Lead of 24K's QA and Brazilian localization) is more involved this time, helping with level design and much more. I can't reveal anything about it yet, but we're in full swing and you can expect the same amount of 24K love and eccentricity.

Take care and have a great Summer,

Todd & Team

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Due to an issue discovered in the v1.073 update that rendered the game unplayable, we have rolled back the update as an emergency measure. We will update again once the issue has been resolved.

Users who encounter a gray screen while entering the game should exit the game, update to the rolled-back version, and then restart the game to resume normal play.

Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Hydro - HarmanMotor

Hello everyone,

Just a quick announcement to say that Dev Log #5 for Hydro is out on my YouTube channel.

This showcases the very latest updates and features implemented for Hydro that will be making it into release on August 1st!

In a nutshell, the following brand new features have been implemented of late:

  • A Guided Tutorial - helps ease new players in the workings of Hydro - some 'veterans' may even learn a thing or two as well...

  • Comprehensive, adjustable difficulty settings - play it your way! Enable/disable noise complaints, ship passages, auditors, 'tame' the river flow, increase day length, ease the supply chain market costs and much more

  • Player Journal - all your critical stats and some 'thoughts' to help you plan your next move...

  • Supply Ordering revamp - now you can see the current market price for items before you place an order, and order in bulk and get discounts!

  • Revamped Local Power Fuse Box - no more annoying wasted mouse clicks! Nab those fuses (or put them back) perfectly every time

  • Oil Stains and Housekeeping - a new housekeeping mechanic means some (but not all!) auditors will check on your housekeeping around the site. Don't let that oil stain get too big...

  • Sabotage! A brand new game play feature. V1.00 will contain at least 1 sabotage event that will mean that noise complaints are no longer just a one-and-done event...some towns-folk may actually followup their talk with some walk!

This will likely be the final dev log showcasing the latest updates, but rest assured that I am continuing to make the final balance, tweaks and polish to the game so that it's the best that it can be come August 1st!

Note that I plan to continue making feature and bug fix updates post release as well to maintain Hydro at its best.

Enjoy! :-)

P.S. just a disclaimer that whilst many (if not all) of the features seen in this dev log are planned for full release, the game is still in final stages of development, so it's still subject to change by release date.

Until next time, happy generating!

Black Hole Fishing - SDG Games

Welcome to Fishy Friday the Fourth (of July): Founding the Fish Lab

Today, we are diving in to the wonderful world of procedural fish! I have some good news, some bad news, and more good news and bad news.

About the demo.

Let's start with the bad news. I was going to release an updated version of the game's demo today, but I ended up taking the weekend off for the holiday. Which leads to the good news: There will be a Special Edition of Fishy Friday next week which will include a major demo update! Keep your eyes out for that!

Now for the good news:

We at Fishy Business Co have been hard at work breeding and developing fish for the game. In fact, we just passed 69 BILLION fish variants produced! That's right - billion with a B.

Here is our latest masterpiece - specialty bred for the holiday. Say Hi to Murray the Murican Catfish!

Hi Murray.

(Ignore the torpedofish - he wasn't supposed to leave the lab)

We have been breeding all of these fish in our brand new Fish Lab!

About the Lab

The Fish lab is an experimental fish breeding operation. We can combine any shape fish with any color set, and mix in up to four genetic traits, including eye size, eye color, and pattern/texture. These are the fish that will be populating your point from here on out. We currently have a brand new set of Cash Carp on the way, and they should be in the Demo pond sometime next week.

Ok, it's time for more bad news. The lab... isn't for sale. I know, it looks cool, but we have so much specialty equipment that we couldn't possibly ship all the way out to your little pond. We promise, the Fishy Business magazine will contain as many fish breeding and fish merging machines as possible.

Black Hole Fishing is an incremental game, and that means unlocking things slowly. Just picking traits and putting them into a fish would totally kill the gameplay :D Although, if you really want to try it out, we might be convinced to let you visit the lab.

An early experimental version just hit Itch.io, so feel free to mess around with the fish for yourself. This is a development tool, so don't expect a lot of polish. You can try it in your browser, though - no download required.

That's all for this week! Keep an eye out for the special announcement next week! After that, we'll be back to our regularly scheduled biweekly updates.
