The line shares its history with 2 key railways, the ill-fated Great Central, and the Metropolitan, which would go onto become part of the London Underground. The Great Central Main Line was built to connect Nottingham to London, and would approach the capital by aligning with rails already laid by the Met from Aylesbury onwards.

Ultimately, the Great Central would end up falling by the wayside, and links to other railways would become freight-only connections, however, a service between London Marylebone and Aylesbury would be retained, alongside Underground services as far as Amersham.

Additionally out of London Marylebone sprouts the Chiltern Main Line, which serves as an alternative path to Birmingham, avoiding the bustling West Coast Main Line. There is a branch line that links the two routes, between Aylesbury and Princes Risborough, that not only receives its own services but also longer distance services from London, offering passengers two distinct services to Aylesbury.

Just Trains’ London – Aylesbury route features both routes, the main line via High Wycombe, and via Harrow-on-the-Hill, sharing track with the Metropolitan Line along the way. Additionally, the Aylesbury – Princes Risborough branch is included, giving you no less than 78 miles of Chiltern Commuter railway to explore!

A total of 7 Ge 6/6 II electric locos were built, 2 in 1958 and the final 5 in 1965 as motive power capable of hauling heavy trains across steep terrain. Despite their age, they all still work on both passenger and freight trains to this day, and you can now experience that in Train Simulator.

In all, 5 career scenarios are included, 3 for the Surselva Line and 2 for the Albula Line, as well as an additional Railfan Mode scenario for each, bringing to you 5 hours of diverse and classic operations to enjoy, as well as your own runs in Quick Drive. Stretching for 80km through scenic Schleswig-Holstein countryside, the Kiel – Lübeck railway links multiple communities throughout the state to the larger namesake cities. Unlike a lot of railway lines in Germany, Kiel – Lübeck has yet to be electrified making it home to diesel locomotive and multiple unit traffic. The line is also mostly single-track, with services passing each other with stations along the way.

Today we are bringing a hotfix to the Welsh Marches: Newport - Shrewsbury route. Please find the full update log below:

• This fixes an issue with the northbound Quick Drive not showing correctly.
• The route’s name has also been changed to “Welsh Marches Line - Newport to Shrewsbury" without the [BMG]

The earliest sections of the line were opened in 1866, in an effort to link communities of Schleswig-Holstein with the Baltic ports, however rails wouldn’t reach Lübeck until 1873, as it was Free Imperial City during this period and not part of the State.

Once fully opened, the railway was operated by multiple companies, primarily transporting passengers who were visiting the stunning locations of the region. By the 1930s, journey times across the route averaged in at 150 minutes, with the D-Zug express getting that down to 95. Today, regional services can traverse the line in a little over an hour.

Unlike many popular routes throughout Germany, the Kiel-Lübeck railway remains unelectrified to this day, and is mostly single-track, meaning it is a haven of diesel operations and features passing loops at various stations across the route.

In Train Simulator, the 80 km Kiel-Lübeck railway will allow you to experience Schleswig-Holstein at its scenic best, aboard hard-working traction such as the DB BR 648 DMU and DB BR 218 diesel locomotive, taking passengers across stunning vistas and through the heart of forested plains.

What is now known today as the Welsh Marches line first appeared in the 1850s, after the Newport, Abergavenny and Hereford Railway sought to connect these towns by rail, as well as unlocking access for mineral traffic. This was followed immediately with opening of the Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway, which extended reach further north, creating a 98-mile secondary mainline which danced across the English/Welsh border.

Over time, many of the freight-focused branch lines that served the route were closed, however the main route itself would prove to be successful, and a key connection between South and North Wales, as well as with towns in England.

Even today, much of the line’s character comes from its infrastructure, with stations that still echo days past of the GWR, as does Severn Bridge Junction signal box, which is the largest operational mechanical signal box in the world. All this, as well as the picturesque scenery throughout, provide a stark contrast with the modern and built-up Newport station on the South Wales Main Line.
