A huge thank you to everybody who contacted us with information regarding the pantograph on the Dispolok BR 189. Our studio is currently working to produce a small patch for this loco to ensure that the correct pantograph is in operation when the loco is driven. As soon as it has been tested, we will release the patch as an automatic update via Steam to all users who have purchased the BR 189. Thanks again for all your feedback on this.

The new-generation high performance BR 189 comes from the stable of successful Euro Sprinter locomotives built by Siemens, and is now available for Train Simulator.

Classified as BR 189 by Deutsche Bahn, the Class is one of only a handful equipped with all four electric systems commonly used in mainland Europe and various light formations, making it capable of running on most of Europe’s rail network, including across Germany, Austria, Italy, Netherlands, Poland and Hungary. The Class was originally ordered by DB Cargo and is used primarily on freight operations with a top speed of 87mph (140 km/h).

The majority of the Class has since been sold to private leasing company MRCE (formerly Dispolok), which has been many of the locomotives leased to freight operators across Europe. A number of BR 189s can now be seen across Germany, as well as into Switzerland and other neighbouring countries.

The BR 189 for Train Simulator is available in the yellow and silver livery of private leasing company Dispolok, and features SIFA, PZB and LZB in-cab signalling and driver safety devices, AFB train power control, cab lights, dial lights, direct control brake (in advanced mode), and SGGRSS freight wagons.

The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the Dispolok BR 189 on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the Hamburg-Hanover route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).

We are aware that there is some confusion about how prices for certain add-ons are being displayed on Steam in our March Madness sale. An explanation of how discounts are being applied and displayed on Steam is below.

An example is as follows: the usual retail price of London-Faversham High Speed is £24.99 when bought as a route add-on independently. As this route is also included with TS2014, usual retail price £34.99, and TS2014 is discounted by 80% until 12pm GMT on Sunday (23rd), a Steam function has increased the price to £34.99 (the usual retail price of TS2014) and then reduced this by 80%, to £6.99. This same function is displaying London-Faversham High Speed as £6.99 on certain Steam pages, which is incorrect if you were to buy the route as an add-on. However, as the route is included in TS2014, it is possible to buy three routes - London-Faversham High Speed, Hamburg-Hanover and Donner Pass –simply by re-purchasing TS2014 at this special £6.99 discounted price.

We apologise for any confusion this may be causing at this time. We are committed to offering great deals on TS2014 and selected Train Simulator add-ons as part of March Madness, and this includes showing add-ons at the lowest price possible on certain pages of Steam.

The TRAXX series of electric locomotives from Bombardier is responsible for many of Germany’s more modern freight and passenger locomotives, including the BR 145, now available for Train Simulator.

The mainline BR 145 was derived from the prototype locomotive 128 001, built by AEG and Henschel as an experimental high-performance electric locomotive as a test bed for new technology. This prototype paved the way for an order of 80 BR 145 locomotives in 1997 by Deutsche Bahn AG, specifically for medium-weight freight operations on the German rail network.

In 2000 a derivative locomotive, the BR 146, was developed specifically for passenger services, adapted for higher speed running; however, over time the BR 145 was also pressed in passenger service, albeit with a top speed of 140 km/h (87mph) but equally capable of hauling local Regio passenger trains.

The BR 145 for Train Simulator is available in Deutsche Bahn ‘Traffic Red’ livery as it can be seen hauling passenger services across Germany. The locomotive is fitted with PZB, AFB and SIFA in-cab signalling and driver safety devices, alongside Regio passenger coaches.

The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the DB BR 145 on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the Hamburg-Hanover route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).
