NEW FEATURES 

Traitor Abilities: We added the ability for the crafting table and chest in the Cabin to be poisoned. 

New Item: Disintegrator! Traitors can now craft a new item called the Disintegrator with traitor credits and either use it on the objective or attach it to another player. When a player uses a disintegrator on the objective or a player who has a disintegrator attached to them interacts with the objective, a random amount (within a small range) of resources in the objective are destroyed. 

 

BALANCING / IMPROVEMENTS 

  • We adjusted the Traitor Crate loot tables and increased the cost of opening bunkers. 

  • To address some player concerns regarding objective messaging, we have updated our UI to include the objective resources needed and the current completion percentage of the objective.  

  • When items are dropped, they will no longer roll around and instead will immediately transition to their pickupable state as soon as they hit the ground. 

  • When players are moving items between inventories and containers, moving an item outside of the container and inventory UI drops that item on the ground. 

  • To better communicate how to do charge attacks, players will now see a tooltip providing guidance on how to charge their attack. 

  •  When players are experiencing a cold effect (e.g. when a blizzard hits), we have added an icy vignette to better message that players are being affected by the cold. 

   

 BUG FIXES 

  • We made several fixes / changes to address issues where some players were getting disconnected from the game.  

  • We fixed an issue where a bear that should have been present in the Upirngivik tile was missing. He is now ready to chase and kill any who come close! 

  • We fixed an issue where the pickup timer for ghost players wasn’t displaying.  

  • Fixed an issue where players would sometimes see their fist clipping into their own heads when attempting to punch.  

 

COSMETICS 

This patch includes changes to support new cosmetics.

The Relax Or Die Update is now live!

NEW FEATURES
  • NEW MAP! We have a new map called “Beaver Dam” which features beavers who will slap their tails and dive in the water when you get too close! This map will be playable in both Normal Mode and Customs!

BALANCING / IMPROVEMENTS
  • A lobby will now be highlighted in the lobby list if there is a player in that lobby that you have blocked or been blocked by.

  • The Recently Met list will now include all players you’ve come in contact with while in a lobby, even if you didn’t play a game with that player.

  • We made changes to the throwing mechanic so that throwing items feel more intuitive and players can better understand the path a thrown object will take.

  • Dropped items will now immediately transition to a pickup-able state and will no longer roll around on the ground before being picked up.

  • There is no longer a timer when picking items up off the ground; instead, they will immediately move to your inventory when interacted with.

  • When players are dragging-and-dropping items between containers and their inventory, dragging an item outside of the container or inventory UI will now drop the item on the ground.

BUG FIXES
  • We fixed an issue where some cosmetics were appearing invisible to other players or yourself.

  • We fixed several issues on multiple maps where rocks were floating, trees or consoles were blocking entrances to bunkers, etc.

  • We fixed an issue where roles that are specific to Custom games only were shown in the Roles list of Normal Mode games.

  • We fixed an issue where the last button on the Penguin Pajama cosmetic would stretch when the player moves. The button is now firmly in place.

OTHER CHANGES
  • We updated our rating in Australia to “M” as per IARC changes.

  • We updated our logo on the splash screen to our new logo.

  • This patch includes changes to support new cosmetics and progression tree(s).

NEW FEATURES 

GONDOLA IS BACK!  
We re-added the Gondola map into the regular rotation on Normal game mode. 

HOST MAP SELECTION! 
Lobby hosts can now select which map they would like to play. 

ROLE SCREEN 
While loading into a lobby, you will now see text that tells you your role prior to spawning in the cabin. 
 

 

BUG FIXES 

  • Fixed an issue where Fox and Wolf skin capes were slipping on larger model players 

  • Fixed a few issues with navigating on various supported controllers. 

  • Fixed some translation issues that were present in Greek.

NEW FEATURES
New Map: Sakura
This update includes a new map called “Sakura”. Sakura is a standard map featuring Sakura grasslands. It is playable in both Normal and Custom game modes.


BALANCING / IMPROVEMENTS
  • Removed Ally role from normal game modes; this is now only playable in Customs.
  • Removed Wild Spirit from normal game modes; this can now only be enabled in Customs.
  • We added a weight system to our map rotations, so you’re temporarily more likely to see the new map, Sakura, over older maps.

COSMETICS
This patch includes changes to support new cosmetics, releasing on June 1.

Hey there, Project Winter Community! Sam here, Sr. Producer for Project Winter 👋

As most of you know, we released a community survey back in January. We received over 1000 responses in both English and Chinese. From the bottom of my heart, I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to answer our questions and provide us with your thoughts. We have taken the last ~2 months to aggregate, translate, and sort through all the responses, and have made some decisions regarding the future of Project Winter, specifically our plans for 2025.

We would like to make sure that all new and existing players know - and truly feel - that we, as Developers, are committed to making sure Project Winter continues to live and thrive. As a result of this endeavor, I have a 2025 roadmap that we'd like to share with everyone. We are calling this our "Road to Project Winter v2.0". I want to be crystal-clear that this is not a sequel to Project Winter, but rather, a refreshed Project Winter experience.

We will not be releasing specifics about any of the items on the roadmap - we want to surprise you with each content update / release - but we do want to show you what we're working on!

We are planning the following changes to be released this year:
  • We will release at least 2 new maps
  • Lobby hosts will be able to select what map to play next
  • Gondola map is coming back to Normal mode!
  • We are removing both the Ally role and Wild Spirit (ghost bear) from Normal modes
  • We will be releasing something we are code-naming "Cabin Fever" (no details about this will be announced, so don't ask

In addition to all of the above changes, we will also be making a ton of balancing changes to in-game messaging, items, inventory management, player block function, the Store, and the HUD/UI. We will also be adding a new throwing mechanic!

We are very excited for what the year has in store for us and for the community, and we hope you will love everything when it is released!

The Wilderness Wardrobe Update Is Now Live!



We’re excited to announce that our latest update is now live! This release focuses on refining your gameplay experience with a range of quality-of-life changes, bug fixes, and some key balancing adjustments.

Welcome New Players!
A warm welcome to all our new players who’ve recently joined the community! We’re thrilled to have you on board. Demo mode is now back online, so if you’re looking to explore the game with friends, it’s a great (and free) way to get a feel for everything we have to offer.

Balancing & Improvements

Abandoned Ranger
  • The Abandoned Ranger objective has now been added to Normal games. Previously, this was only available in Custom games.
  • We’ve rebalanced the sabotaging mechanics. Signal Boosters that have been sabotaged will now require players to gather a small number of resources to repair them.
Wild Spirit
  • To prevent exploits, the Wild Spirit ability can no longer be used immediately in front of entrances or buildings. However, be aware that a transformed bear might still block these entrances!
  • Traitor Items
Traitor Crates
  • The spawn rate of energy drinks in Traitor Crates has been increased.
Objectives & Armory
  • We’ve increased the difficulty of the Smoke Signal, Repair, and Stockpile objectives.
  • The probability of different items, including guns, spawning in armory crates has also been adjusted.
  • Cosmetics

Cosmetics
  • New cosmetics are now available in-store for September, along with additions to our permanent Store collection.

Notable Bug Fixes 
  • Fixed various issues with snowshoes, ensuring they are consumed correctly and updating their description to reflect that they leave no snow trail. 
  • Corrected an issue where Traitors were unable to open bunkers with Traitor Credits. 
  • The Ally role description has been updated to correctly state that the Ally Player can take on multiple roles, not just survivor. 
  • Corrected the sickle skin's range, ensuring it matches the default sickle.

They Beware Lamps update is now live!



This update focuses primarily on quality-of-life changes, balancing and bug fixes as we continue work on reworking custom games.

Balance Changes

Abandoned Ranger
  • Based on feedback from the community, we reviewed and rebalanced the animal waves for the Abandoned Ranger objective. There is now updated logic for how many and what type of animal will spawn based on the state (sabotaged vs not sabotaged) and how many survivors are still alive.

Some notable bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where animal waves would not begin after a signal tower was sabotaged. Now, animal waves will spawn for one minute if the signal tower is reactivated via sabotage.
  • Fixed an issue with the Abandoned Ranger objective where animal spawn radius for the signal towers; previously the radius was very small, so animal waves would only spawn if you were very, very close to the signal tower.
  • Fixed an issue in Custom Games where the game settings may become desynchronized across players if the host changed the setting in the lobby. This would have caused players to see different objectives and roles from the host. This may have also caused loading issues where some players may have experienced a ‘hang’ while loading into the match.
  • Fixed an issue in Custom Games where the match may fail to load if the host modified the animal health values.
