As you can see, First Dwarf isn’t a real-time strategy game like Driftland: The Magic Revival, but we’ve once again blended multiple genres to bring you something new. ⚔️✨

First Dwarf is an immersive action-RPG colony survival game with base building and tower defense 🏰 mechanics, set in a fantasy open world, sprawling across islands floating over the planet's core. The game will challenge your survival and exploration skills as you take control of two heroes, Tru and Ragna, equipped with a mana-powered mech and an airship.

Unlike Driftland, where your actions were from the perspective of a mage-ruler 🧙‍♂️, here you’ll have the freedom to explore the shattered world firsthand. Combat has also evolved significantly. You can now take direct control of the action, surrounding your villages with defensive walls 🛡️ and mana-powered turrets while also engaging in the fight yourself. Plus, First Dwarf offers both online co-op and local split-screen, so you can team up with a friend to defend your bases and explore together.

You can gather resources manually ⛏️, but as you build villages and recruit settlers from different clans, it becomes far more efficient to construct magically powered buildings to extract resources automatically. Just remember to establish a mana pipe network to power your structures and keep everything running smoothly!



We’ve wrapped what you loved about Driftland—the strategic depth, resource management, and defense—into a new kind of adventure that will test both your tactical and exploration skills.

Creating First Dwarf has been an incredible journey, and it's far from over. As a small team of passionate developers, we have big plans for this game, and we see immense potential - ready to be unlocked, especially with your help.

We want First Dwarf to be a community-driven game. We know there’s still work to be done, and we’re committed to refining and expanding it. We aim to create an open development process where you, the players, can be directly involved.

Origin of First Dwarf

We’re a small indie studio based in Warsaw, and First Dwarf has been in the making for a few years now. To share where this game came from, we need to look back at Driftland: The Magic Revival.

The concept of Driftland started with a simple yet ambitious goal - to create an entirely new fantasy world. Like First Dwarf, it began as an Early Access game. In the beginning, there weren’t even campaign missions, but the game evolved thanks to the incredible support and feedback from players like you. You helped shape it, and your investment in the world and story drove us to explore the universe further.

That’s how the idea for First Dwarf was born. Unlike Driftland, which focuses on real-time strategy, First Dwarf gives us the chance to dive deeper into the world of floating islands. This time, you’re not observing from above - you’re in the heart of the action. It’s a spin-off of a beloved game, expanding the universe you know and love.

Living Road Map

We want to be completely transparent about what you can expect from First Dwarf in Early Access. For now, the game offers two islands, with the second one being much larger and more challenging to clear. Our next big update will add a third island, and we’re excited to keep expanding from there.

Below, you’ll find our Living Road Map. It’s "living" because we’re committed to listening to your feedback throughout Early Access. If you think something needs to be changed, added, or prioritized differently, please tell us. We’ll adjust the plan based on your input, making sure the game develops in line with both our vision and your expectations.

As always, many things are happening right now in our studio! We’re here today with a showcase of weapons you can obtain in our game! So if you’re eager to take care of some dangerous monsters… This might interest you!

Time is ticking as the Playtest officially ends on April 8th 3PM (CEST).




We’re starting off with our loyal pickaxe! Which is great in dealing with persisting bullies. It’s also very helpful in gathering precious resources, like wood and stone. A perfect two in one!





But everyone needs some changes from time to time, right? Further in the game, you can find…


Well, you can’t mine with that, but it’s a fair exchange for this POWERFUL weapon! It’s best for quick combat, when you’re running short of time. Made with help of Eskoim technology.




If you really want to serve those monsters a 💥PUNCH💥 the hammer may be the way to go. It’s slower than other weapons, but its strength is irreplaceable.




Don’t ever think that our main hero is hopeless without his mech! Tru is a brave and strong dwarf that can take care of dangerous enemies on his own, if needed.




Sometimes, you just want to keep your distance. And that’s fine! Here to your aid comes a blunderbuss! A firearm with a short, large caliber barrel. It’s attached to the left arm of our mech.




Another distance weapon that can be applied to the mech is a crossbow. A neuroballistic projectile weapon consisting of a bow embedded in a stock.




What do you think, which one will be the best for you to fight with? As the game progresses, you will be able to upgrade your weapons and obtain unique to them helpful skills.

Of course, we’re still implementing more of our ideas into the game, so it’s possible for more weapons to come…




You can fight with the most powerful weapon, but sometimes it’s best to dodge some attacks to avoid unnecessary damage. Yes, you can also block the strike coming your way, but you might want to distance yourself from the enemy rather than standing so close. And you can do it easily, even with a heavy mech.



Same goes for Ragna! Her quick dodge is a wonderful sight. Avoid the monster attacks, no matter if you’re on land or in the air.




What, did you think that that’s all? No, no! Here we present to you: dash.

Feeling cornered? Use the powerful dash to charge at your enemies! Damage all monsters standing in your path.




We want the combat system to be a great experience for the players. Remember that hitting those combos will help you with the most efficient way to fight!

And without further ado… Today is a BIG day for us! If you’ve been following our Community Hub and our social media, you could’ve heard about sign-ups for our Playtests. But in case you somehow didn’t get the memo, don’t worry! Put on your dwarven shoes anyway, because you can still join us! Just go to the Steam page of First Dwarf and click “Request Access” 🎯


Everyone who signed-up will participate! 🎉 So no worries, it doesn't matter if you requested it right after our announcement, or even after the Playtest started, you’ll be able to play First Dwarf. 🎉


Playtests are open from March 25th 3PM (CET) to April 8th 3PM (CEST). We’re going to give access to the game to everyone who signed-up. In this time window, you can still request access to the game. After April 8th, the Playtests will be closed, gamers will lose their access to the game, but there is a possibility of a second round in the future.


Steam Playtest is a wonderful feature that lets us give access to the game to the players who are willing to try it out in its current state. Our main reason for this, is willingness to receive as much feedback as we can, before launching the final game. We believe that the thoughts and opinions of our community will help us shape the game together and create something truly brilliant. We deeply care about this project, as it’s related to our first game, Driftland: The Magic Revival, and we are over the moon that we have the opportunity to expand this magical world even further. That’s why we need YOUR HELP!

You can do it in our First Dwarf Discord server, which we already upgraded with special channels for the Playtest. If you already are on our Discord, you know that it’s really fun there!



We added two new channels specifically for this event:

playtest-feedback - that’s the place where you can tell us EVERYTHING you want after you played our game. Positive and negative feedback, all of that is welcome. You can tell us about the smallest things, regarding music, characters, dialogues, mechanics, systems, bugs… Every topic is a good topic, as long as it’s related to the First Dwarf Playtest. We can’t wait to chat with you about your experiences with our title!

opt-in-credits - here you can read the steps of what to do, to be included in our game’s credits! It’s a little “thank you” from us, for all your help. By leaving your invaluable feedback, you’re becoming an important part of our big adventure! You’ll find there the link to the form we prepared earlier, where you’ll be able to drop your nickname. No offensive names of course, those won’t be included.

Probably the fastest way to report a bug is located directly in the game. An automatic save file is also attached to the report you make (but you won't see it, so don't panic!), so we have the best understanding of the issue. However, keep in mind that we won’t be able to respond to you there. We will receive the information, but to hear back from us or to engage in conversation, it’s best to use Discord.

We made a pinned thread in the Steam Discussions titled 🐛 Playtest Bug Reports 🐛, where you can report your bugs from the Playtest.


If you’re not sure how to phrase what’s in your mind, we prepared a simple form to fill, which may help you transfer your thoughts into words and inspire you in terms of what to be aware of while playing. After leaving your feedback, you can also write your preferred name to be put in the credits there, it’s optional.

They are in beta version, and will be improved with time. You can change the language in the game’s menu options! Texts and dialogues can also be altered later, if necessary.

You’ll be playtesting an introduction to our game, First Dwarf. Take on the role of Tru, chosen to be the First Dwarf and his sassy dragon companion Ragna. Your mission is to build a new colony on the freshly discovered island, but first, you need to make sure that the area is safe to inhabit. Gather resources, build your base and fortify your colony, before the evil monster wave attacks! Fight your enemies by placing defensive turrets and engaging in direct combat. Complete your quests and send the raven to the awaiting dwarves, so they can arrive at their new home. Will you and your people survive in this new environment? 🧔‍♂️🐉




We’re also preparing an advanced special version of Demo, titled First Dwarf: First Island. We highly encourage you to add it to your Wishlist (it has its own Steam Page) as well as the final First Dwarf game. We will give more information soon! As you may already know, currently we’re working on our new title. It’s an immersive action RPG, where you take on the role of a scouting dwarven engineer and pilot a giant mech in search of a safe place for new colonies.

As we are entering the most intense stage of development, we’re asking you for your help.

Sometimes we can see you having trouble with experiencing the multiplayer gameplay with your friends. We’re here to explain why it might be so and hopefully help you start your very own session of Driftland.


Driftland: The Magic Revival does not hold any servers. Multiplayer works on a P2P (Peer-to-Peer) basis. It means that the game is hosted by one of the players’ computers (the host) and relies on the players’ online network.

Here you can’t see any sessions found. And that’s normal, if no one is hosting the game and waiting for players to join. The session won’t be visible to any gamers, if the host has already started the game with other players.



There is no possibility to join the gameplay that has already started. Your friends have to specifically wait for you in the lobby, so you can join them.

After clicking “HOST” at the very bottom, you can change the specifics of your session, such as Game Mode, Victory Options and others. You can also create a password for your game, if you don’t want any strangers playing with you. After changing everything to your liking, click the “HOST” button once again.




This will take you to the lobby. That’s the exact moment your friends can join your session. If you set up the password earlier, other players can join by typing it in (above the refresh button, at the bottom left corner). If there is no password, your session will be visible for them from the start after entering the Multiplayer mode.

And that’s basically it! After everyone joins the game, you can click “READY”. If all the players mark themselves as ready to play, the game launches.

Multiplayer still not working 💭

You need to make sure that the Steam client has full internet access and is not blocked by a firewall or some anti-virus program. If this requirement is met, you should easily see yourself in the lobby. However, there is a second possibility - you can use Steam invitations to create a network game. Send an Invite to your friend before they run their copy and let them join from there. There is also a chance that a great physical distance (like trying to play from America with someone from Asia) may cause troubles in connection.

We see a lot of newcomers here! But no matter, if you’re just starting as an Apprentice Mage or if you’ve got a whole prospering empire as an Archmage, we’ve got some news for you!

We made an update fixing some minor bugs occurring in the game and added the logo of our upcoming game, First Dwarf. It takes place in the world of Driftland and is an big expansion of its lore. Control dwarven scouting engineer Tru, dragon Ragna or powerful mech and explore the uncharted islands in search of a new home for your people. This immersive action RPG fuses quick combat with base building and tower defense.

We absolutely love that universe and hope that if you liked the twisted and magical stories of Driftland: The Magic Revival, you will also enjoy First Dwarf!

But First Dwarf is just the beginning, though! We would love to continue our adventure in Driftland, as much as you do! We’ve seen your petition regarding the making of a game with elf characters… What a nice initiative! Who knows what the future will bring.




We’ve got Nomads of Driftland - a standalone free expansion! As you may know, Driftland: The Magic Revival has a unique fusion of RTS, 4X strategy, and Sim genres. This helps you command all your units without micromanagement, thanks to the flag system.



Contrary to that, Nomads of Driftland has a more classic RTS feel and is significantly different from the base game, as units are managed directly. It will be full of new experiences for you!



Unlike in the base game, Nomads of Driftland do not have a ruler and do not carry out orders like previous races. Also, new unit types and classes affect strategy on the battlefield!
