What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want to involve players in creation of mysterious TowerHex quizzes. As in real life escape rooms - we want to make the game challenging for all audiences across ages and groups. We made a fantasy world that we would like to fill with original quizzes from the entire globe. We want the community to decide, how hard the game should be.
We welcome both retro gamers that remember the old school quests, like Myst, Syberia, Broken Sword, and modern gamers that are passionate about contemporary quests. If you know how physical Escape Rooms work - you are welcome!

We are not building an ordinary VR Escape room - we strive to create challenges that are logical for the Fantasy world. The Evil Wizard we fight did not leave many clues for the players. He did not write secret passwords on walls without a reason. For every quiz and challenge, and especially for every hint there should be a coherent reason - why is it there? Why did someone build it? Why did someone write this on the wall? Who left the hints behind for us? Are they hints at all?”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We believe 3-4 hours long gameplay is perfect for this type of game. We filled the game with 10 rooms for different game-styles - action, math and logical thinking. We would like to invest 2-3 months to crowd-develop the game to its potential.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We want full game to be longer and more challenging. We would like for community-inspired Quizzes to be discussed in small groups, so the full game remains a challenge for our Creators community as well.
Today game contains 10 rooms and we want to expand the world. We continue to polish animations, sound design and scenario. Full game will have multiplayer mode to escape together with your friends (up to four players) and will provide collaborative teamwork experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Today the game contains 10 escape rooms. Average gameplay is 55 minutes. Multiplayer mode is in active development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“If we succeed to achieve 3-4 hours of gameplay with community ideas, we plan to raise the price, but it will depend on the Early Access duration and community feedback we will receive in the process.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Will expect discussions with Creators community and will carefully read every piece of feedback we get from players. Future development will be based on the information and inspiration we get from our players.

We are looking for storytellers and quiz authors. We encourage creative discussion about current quizzes, future ideas, and best ways of implementation for puzzles. We look forward to hear ideas from experienced gamers about how the TowerHex world can work.

We will place players in groups (a group will be formed around an idea) and develop new rooms within the group in close communication. Rooms will be published and available for testing using special passwords.

To prioritize our development process in the right way we will run polls to vote for features/rooms to be developed first, to ensure the most exciting ideas get included in releases as soon as possible.”
