The End of the Sun on ensimmäisen persoonan seikkailu- ja tarinankerrontaan keskittyvä mysteeripeli, joka sijoittuu slaavilaisten uskomusten, legendojen ja myyttisten olentojen fantasiamaailmaan. Pienestä kylästä tulee arvoituksellisten tapahtumien paikka, joiden kautta rajan myytin ja todellisuuden välillä alkaa vaarallisesti hämärtyä.

Ashterina, slaavilaisena tietäjäsorcerina lahjakas ajan matkustamisen taidossa ja tuntemuksessa tuonpuoleisesta, seuraten epätavallisen pakolaisen jälkiä, saavut salaperäiseen kylään. Valitettavasti et löydä sieltä ketään, ainakaan tavalla, jota odotit. Kaikkialla ympärilläsi näet vain palaneita tulisijoja.

Peli on saanut inspiraationsa slaavilaisesta mytologiasta ja legendoista. Tarina esittelee salaperäisiä tapahtumia, jotka tapahtuvat suurten slaavilaisten juhlien aikana kaikissa neljässä vuodenajassa, kaukana toisistaan ajallisesti. Pelin kulku on yhdistelmä tutkimista ja seikkailullisia mysteeripelejä epätavanomaisilla arvoituksilla ratkaistavaksi, mutta tarina on tässä keskiössä.
