  Wield your army as an instrument of your ambition, besieging towns and forts, raiding villages and trade routes, and dealing death to your enemy. Set up your plans and execute - your men will react to changes in circumstance to best execute your tactics.

  Your responsibility as lord does not end at the point of your blade. Facilitate trade deals, build critical infrastructure, construct new settlements or restore the husks of once great Roman cities. Plot your enemies demise with subtle intrigue and deception, but watch out - for loyalties waver and crumble like dust in the fierce wind of change striking Europe.

World

As the Roman empire crumbles, so does it's infrastructure and control over Europe. Pockets of Romano-Britons cling to the remnants of a once glorious rule in Britannia; Saxons, Picts and Jutes battle over the scraps of what remains. Use your martial prowess to defeat your foes in fast paced melee combat, command your forces to raid villages, seize strongholds and ambush your enemy.

Physics Based Combat

At the heart of Contingent is a skill-based melee combat system.

• Real-time swing manipulation 
  ... allows you to adjust the angle and timing of your attacks intuitively, using them to get around your enemies parries.

• Feint your attacks 
  ... to mislead your opponent into parrying incorrectly, leaving openings for you to punish.

• Fights that feel fair
  ... removing the negative impacts of 'drags' and 'accels', with clear understandable mechanics, and a higher skill ceiling that allow great space for individuals styles and flair.

• Extensive character customisation 
  ... with an average of 40 unique components for each weapon, 100+ weapons, 200+ clothing and armour options, 200+ jewellery options (rings, necklaces, earrings, buckles/brooches), 30+ hair options, tattoos, male and female options, face sculpting and more, results in millions of potential character combinations!

Command Your Troops

• A simple but powerful order system 
  ... allows you to manoeuvre your troops into ambushes, and mount attacks against enemy walls and gates with siege engines ranging from battering rams and catapults to ladders and hooked ropes.

• Your warriors think and act logically ,,, fighting as an intelligent, semi-autonomous unit. The more skill a squad gains, the more intelligent their behaviour will be, but even the most experienced units will fall to cowardice if pitted against impossible odds.

  ... to shift the odds in your favour. Build strong alliances through bonds of marriage, or mutual need of protection. Scheme to murder, romance, depose or bring your target into disrepute.

• Build your economy 
  ... by investing in the creation of resources, control and tax trade throughout your realm to generate wealth. Manage tariffs or restrict goods entering other kingdoms entirely, to consolidate your fortune.

• Leverage your culture 
  ... for great bonuses, by building traditions that pull your people forward in the direction of your choosing - whether that is martial and military might, economic strength, or religious fervour.

• Expand your religion 
  ... by investing in holy buildings such as churches, mosques and temples. Fight holy wars and spread the will of your deity (or deities). Gain the support of common people by ensuring their beliefs are represented and that they have a place to pray, or forcibly convert them - dealing with the fallout

Competitive Play

We will support competitive play from launch, with a fully integrated clan matchmaking and ranking system, tournaments with large prize pools and collaboration with organizers to create unique content and integrations.

Our core competitive game-modes will receive ongoing regular balance and content patches monthly, and we are working with some of the most experienced competitive medieval melee slasher players to ensure a balanced and engaging meta.

Clans

Contingent is designed from the ground up to be a social and engaging experience. Progress with your clan mates to unlock unique cosmetics, compete on leaderboards and battle it out in our grassroots eSports with both in-game and real world rewards.
