What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Games take a long time to make and it takes a long time to gain reputation as a developer. By releasing to early access this allows me to work on both at the same time.
Revenue from sales means will mean I can devote more time to the game and advertise once it is ready.
Also, as a developer we can get tunnel vision from the workload and because this is a solo project, gathering feedback on things I have missed or overlooked will make the game better in the long run.
At the end of the day this is a passion project and all decisions are geared towards what will make this game the best possible version of itself.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The final release for this game will be roughly in January of 2022.
It is hard to set a specific date. This game has already had to be rebuilt entirely in a new engine. It is also easy to get sidetracked by thinking up new features.
Steam won't let me say “it is done when it is done”. So, I will say I would like to finish in roughly January of 2022. However, if the game gains more popularity I will likely extend this further to work further on a game people want.
Also, if I think of something cool to add it may extend the project. I like working on this thing it could be a while.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Right now, it is your basic survival game experience.
What I have envisioned for the Full release is a fun experience that takes inspiration from multiple sources. I basically want to take my favorite features from all my favorite games and make something fun.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As a single player experience it has come a long way from the original build.
A lot of the core mechanics are finished but it also still needs a lot more to be added.
It is currently a playable demo. But still needs a lot of work and polish.
It has the basic survival mechanics out of the way. Now it needs all the extra stuff I have planned that will bring it together as a game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“This game will always remain at a low price. Affordable games are the foundation on which I am trying to build my company from.
There is likely to be some experimentation on the price during the early access.
The goal is; to bring the game to as many people as possible while generating budget, but also keeping the game at an affordable price for everyone. It is my belief that games these days are overpriced and this is something I will avoid with a passion.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I work closely with my community. Any person who owns the game can comment in the discord on the forums or on Facebook and request changes or new features to the game.
I also spend a lot of time in private messaging with players, so that I can get their thoughts in a setting where they can be more open about their opinions.
I also watch as many Twitch streams and YouTube videos as possible. So that I can watch people’s reactions and gather feedback.”

About This Game

Welcome to the land down under mate. The world has lost the plot and the end of days is here.
You have been tasked with building something that will last. However this is easier said then done.
This is Australia after all and everything here wants you dead.

The keyword when playing this game is customization. The main goal of this game is to put as much control as possible into the player's hands.
You choose your play style.
As a player you can build a base of operations.
You choose how to furnish your base.
You can choose how your GUI looks.
You can choose your key-binds and layout.
This game also fully supports 15 different languages.
An interesting choice that you will get playing this game that you won’t get playing other games, Outback Survival will let you decide if you want to use stylized toon cell shading. So, if you want a more realistic looking game that is an option but also if you prefer to play games that look like a cartoon that is also an option.

If you prefer a traditional survival experience where you craft everything you need you can.
But also, if you prefer a play style more based around exploration and looting you can also play this way. It is up to you as a player how you choose to play.
You can hunt iconic Australian animals for food. Be careful when exploring though, everything in Australia wants you dead and snakes are hard to spot.
You will need to fight. The landscape is populated with rednecks that want to shoot your face off.
Come test your skills and buy Outback Survival today.

Wafflesoft is an Australian based independent game studio of 1. Yes this is a solo project. Yes this is my first project. Don't worry though this is a good thing. Because unlike the big companies I'm here and will listen.
