What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Games take a long time to make and it takes a long time to gain reputation as a developer. By releasing to early access this allows me to work on both at the same time. It also allows me to build budget over time without putting my hands out and begging on places like kickstarter. Budget means I can devote more time to the game and advertise once it is ready. As a developer we can get tunnel vision from the workload, so gathering feedback on things I have missed or overlooked will make the game better in the long run also.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The final release for this game will be roughly in January of 2022. It is hard to put a specific date at this point. This game has already had to be rebuilt entirely in a new engine. It is also really easy to get sidelined by thinking up new features. Steam won't let me say “it is done when it is done”. So, I will say I would like to finish in roughly January of 2022 but if the game gains more popularity I may extend this further to work further on a proven game and if I think of something cool to add it may extend the project. I like working on this thing it could be a while.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Right now, it is your basic survival game experience. What I have envisioned for the Full release is a unique experience that takes inspiration from multiple sources. I basically want to take my favourite features from all my favourite games and make something unique.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As a single player experience it has come a long way from the original build. A lot of the core mechanics are finished but it also still needs a lot to be added. It is currently a playable demo. But still needs a lot of work and polish. It has the basic cookie cutter survival mechanics out of the way. Now it needs all the extra stuff I have planned that will bring it together as a game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“This game is currently $10 and will always remain $10. Affordable games are the foundation on which I am trying to build my company from. This may drop in the future as the need for budget decreases but it wont go any higher then the $10 price tag it is currently at.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I work extremely closely with the community. Any person who owns the game can comment in the discord on the forums or on Facebook and request changes or new features to the game.
I also spend a lot of time in private messaging with players to get their thoughts in a setting where they can be more open about their opinions and the direction they would like to see things go.”

About This Game

Outback Survival is an Australian themed single player survival game made by an independent Australian company.
As a player you can build a base of operations. Then you can take it a step further and craft furniture to add a bit of uniqueness and flair to your base. Just make it more you.
You can hunt iconic Australian animals for food. But be careful when exploring everything in Australia wants you dead and snakes are hard to spot.
You will need to fight. The landscape is peppered with rednecks that want to shoot your face off.
Come test your skills and buy Outback Survival today.

One of the great things about this game is it lets you play the way you want to play. If you prefer a traditional survival experience where you craft everything you need you can. But also if you prefer a playstyle more based around exploration and looting you can also play this way. It is up to you as a player how you choose to play.

The keyword when playing this game is customisation.
You choose your playstyle.
You choose how to furnish your base.
You can choose how your GUI looks.
You can choose your key-binds and layout.

Another interesting choice that you will get playing this game that you wont get playing other games, Outback Survival will let you decide if you want to use stylised toon cell shading. So if you want a more realistic looking game that is an option but also if you prefer to play games that look like a cartoon that is also an option.

The main goal of this game is to put as much control as possible into the player's hands.
