How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will use the Steam forums, and optionally our Discord server, for frequent communication with the players to collect feedback and shape the balance of the game. Requested options can also be added at this stage to create a better play experience. This will include difficulty balancing, further options and settings for playability, and players can also help guide the direction that optional content will take.

The community that surrounds our games has a good history of giving feedback to identify contentious design ideas and also helps create better balance for our games. Both Shrouded in Sanity and Usurper went through some drastic changes to deliver a fuller experience thanks to user input taken during Early Access. As mentioned, frequent communication with the player-base has, and will continue to be vital to achieve a polished game.”

Update #24

Added:

-Pre-final boss added, with appropriate before and after scenes.

This will now take the player to endgame, this will be the last part of the game where you can finish the remaining optional content, and where the 100 floor will unlock.

With this update I move to optional content entirely, for the next 2 weeks, optional dungeons, ambushes, npcs, and the 100 floor will be added next before the final pre release update containing the final boss and endings, that update should be up by December 1st to leave me 5 whole days for focused testing.

The end is close now :D

November 11

Into the Fray release date set.

December 5th.

Into the Fray will be leaving Early Access on the 5th of December.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/893610/Skautfold_Into_the_Fray/

The game is a direct sequel to both Shrouded in Sanity and Usurper, and features Hito the 3rd Knight as the protagonist.

The game will receive post launch support in the form of more modes and silly extras, but the release version will already feature a lot of extras. Like the obvious Steam stuff like Achievements and Trading cards.

Once out of EA development on the next game begins immediately, while ItF will receive periodic smaller additions to tie over. No DLC plans. If you are interested in the 4th game in the series you can always pop into our Discord and take a look and have your say, discord users had a lot of influence on me over the last game.

Additionally Christmas will bring a nice surprise regarding Usurper if everything goes well, as a thank you to all who support my weird series of games with different genres each time.

About This Game

Into the Fray is a sequel to Usurper and Shrouded in Sanity, as it is part of the Skautfold series. However, knowledge of the previous games is not necessary to enjoy the game.

Into the Fray is an oblique top-down action shooter.
The focus is on fast, bloody combat with satisfying feedback and environmental reactivity; all under the heavy presence of a dark Lovecraftian story of civil strife.

Story

The story is set in 1899, based on an alternate history of the island of Portland, off the south coast of England. You take control of Hito, one of the Knights of the Empire, and head to the Island to investigate reports of a missing royal, and the presence of a rebellious faction called the Sons of Washington. Soon, the Fog descends, leaving you and the islanders to fend off the would-be rebels who have made a pact with entities from the Cosmos.

Gameplay

Into the Fray is framed around an overview map of the island; where you can pick from a range of missions to undertake as the story progresses. These missions will have you visit the streets of the island, dank cave systems, and even secret underground tunnel networks. But all is not as it might appear; the streets are filled with corpses and infested with eldritch entities, whilst the tunnel networks are home to a series of horrific rituals that are aimed at growing the Fogs' influence... and as you search for a way to stop the ongoing destruction, you're sure to stumble upon some of the deepest darkest secrets of the island.

The tools of your trade will include an arsenal of devastating top-of-the-line firearms; from hand-cannons, to triple-barrel shotguns, as well as prototype weaponry from the great Nikola himself. These weapons will be your best friends and only hope of survival if you want to put an end to both the bloodthirsty rebels, and eldritch abominations alike.

To aid your enjoyment of the carnage that will unfold, gore and environmental reactivity are top priority; break just about anything, kick around barrels of oil and then set them on fire as traps, or just straight up give the boot to your enemies and watch them trigger traps. Why open a door when you can break it down?! Persistent gore and debris will help immerse you in the world as you rip, tear and explode your way to victory.

The developers describe the content like this:

This Game may contain content not appropriate for all ages, or may not be appropriate for viewing at work: Frequent Violence or Gore, General Mature Content
