What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows us the opportunity to put a portion of our game in front of our target audience. This opportunity allows us to test if our initial game mechanics are fun, if our first time user experience is solid, and to ensure our server backend is working correctly. Ultimately, all this will allow us to create the best possible experience for our players once we go to a full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We hope to release the game into Early Access by the end of December 2018 and run for 3-6 months, until we believe the game has met our goals and is ready for full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“A big part of our game is troop factions and playable areas (tabletops). Once we are ready to leave early access, we plan to kick off our full release with an additional faction, more mercenaries, more spells, and an additional tabletop. Additionally, we plan to integrate social features such as Achievements, Friends and Leaderboards.

We also intend to continue supporting the game with more content post-launch.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Our early access version is fully playable online and is currently being tested in a closed alpha setup. The early access release will include head-to-head multiplayer with two factions, two tabletops and a single player “trials” mode as well as a practice mode that allows players to hone their skills against an AI.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to release the game in early access on sale at 25% off the price we intend to go to market with. Our hope with this strategy is to get as many early adopters as possible to test our game while in early access. During this time we will be evaluating all the feedback given to us by our early adopters and using it to continuously make improvements to our game, and ultimately create the best experience for our end users.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Having our community be part of the development process is definitely a key goal for us. We have created a Discord server to host our community. This will allow us to distribute key information to our players but also give them a direct way to communicate with our development team.

We will also be hosting in-game meetups and AMA sessions to allow players to ask questions directly to developers in person via in-game voice chat. Discord and meet-ups allow us to share news, gameplay hints and tips, etc.”

Patch notes - v0.9.277 - April 17th, 2018

Patch notes - v0.9.277 - April 17th, 2018

1. Trials Mode matches now have a RESTART option so you can instantly restart a match that you're hopelessly losing ;).

2. VR Players:
a) More control options: Four different options for what the "forward" direction is - i.e. what direction you'll move when you push up on the left controller: (Option 1, the new default) Your facing direction, (Option 2, the previous default) The direction arrow on the floor, (Options 3+4) your left or right hand pointing direction (some people like this method, apparently). We've updated the SETTINGS screen to accommodate this addition.

b) You can have the option to dock the deploy menu to your off-hand! Docked is the default setting

3. Non-VR Players
a) ESC key now takes you back to the previous menu page rather than the QUIT page

b) Removed personal space settings. We figured they weren't very important for non-VR players.

4. AI Gods now have their correct names in Skirmish and Trials modes.

5. TROOP updates:
a) Demon Mage's attack area has been reduced

b) Demon Mage's Codex stats now reflect the correct data :)

c) A Demon Lord bug in its flight logic has been fixed

d) The Demon Lord's melee attack is now arc limited (i.e. it can no longer hit enemies behind it!)

e) The max number of targets that a Behemoth can inflict damage on in a single attack has been reduced to 6.

f) The Behemoth's guarding behavior has been improved.

g) War Clerics following behavior has been improved

h) War Clerics healing ability and XP gain has been nerfed.

i) Archers XP gain has been nerfed.

j) Ice Golems XP gain has been nerfed.

k) Witch's attack range and AoE, speed, turn speed, health and curse duration have all been buffed to varying degrees.

l) We fixed an issue where skeletons were dying unexpectedly.

6. Distance indicators on ranged towers, troops and spells is now more accurate

7. multiple AI improvements

8. Demon table geometry has had subtle changes to allow easier placement of towers.

9. Light maps in all arenas have been improved

10. Level 3 is a lie. Always has been. Always will be. But MAN.... It tastes so good...

Patch notes - v0.9.266 - Mar 28st, 2019

1. Troop XP has been tweaked to [hopefully] smooth out the previous variance in ramping depending on the opposing faction. The intention is that troops shouldn't level up at horribly different rates when playing against different factions.

2. Miscellaneous bug fixes.

3. We've decide to go all 8-bit on the new Level 3. Being oldskool, I personally feel more comfortable with this new direction.

About This Game

Tabletop Gods has arrived in Early Access!

The Elder God has vanished! In the wake of her disappearance, war has erupted in the heavens!

In Tabletop Gods you play the role of a god vying for power. Gather your devout mortal followers and face-off against other players on desktop PC or in VR (Rift or Vive) as you lead your army across tabletop battlefields in frenetic, arcade-style battles.

Tabletop Gods features single-player Skirmish and Trials modes, and multi-player Head-To-Head mode. The intense fifteen minute matches are perfect for quick one-off games or for longer multiple-battle sessions. Meet up with friends and other players in the game's social Arenas, and spectate on ongoing battles or dive into a battle yourself!

In a Tabletop Gods match, you have three rounds to achieve your goal of destroying more of your opponent's Strongholds than they destroy of yours. At the start of each round you'll have a short amount of time to swap out spells and troops, and secretly set traps and deploy mighty weapon towers. During the three minute round, you'll use your slowly replenishing Mana to deploy troops onto the tabletop battlefield to attack your enemy's Strongholds or to defend your own. You'll also cast powerful spells to thwart your enemy's advances or to bolster your own attacks. Destroy your enemy's Strongholds to gain new territory into which you'll be able to deploy your forces and push the battle towards your opponent!

In each match, you'll take command of the Human, Undead or Demon faction. You can also deploy a selection of mercenary troops who will fight for any faction! As we continue development of the game, you can expect more factions, more mercenaries, more spells, traps and towers and more tabletop battlefields to wage war upon.

We look forward to you joining us at the start of our journey! See you in the game for some intense arcade action, Tabletop Gods style!
