What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“From the start, we knew we wanted to involve the community in the process of creating Cat Lady, and we feel that now is the time. Cat Lady already functions with lots of content, but we want to make it even better! Players will be able to enjoy the title as it currently stands and, during Early Access, get to participate in helping us hone in on balance, difficulty, and the prioritization of features and content.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We’re planning on having Cat Lady in Early Access for approximately five-six months. We’ll be bringing monthly content updates and regular patches to players, and hope to release in Spring 2020.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will include more playable cats, more areas of Grandma’s mansion, additional bosses, more enemies, and continued polish based on the Early Access feedback. We’ll also be including achievements with the final version, making sure there are new ways for even the most seasoned Cat Lady player to be challenged with unique prompts and rewards.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Cat Lady was playable at PAX West 2019 and during a Private Beta weekend in September. Cat Lady has been featured in the The MIX at E3, the Indie Megabooth at PAX West 2019, and was the Audience Choice award winner at The MIX showcase at PAX West 2019. The feedback we collected during those showcases and the private beta has already allowed us to improve many aspects of gameplay. There’s still a lot of work to do and new content to be added, but we think the current version is 100% fun and challenging to play already.

More specifically, at the start of Early Access, players will already be able to access several unique areas of Grandma’s mansion, lots of adorable cats & spooky enemies, and plenty of upgrades to mix and match.

Of course, as Early Access continues, we want to learn from players about how we best go about adding even more content!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Players who purchase Cat Lady while in Early Access will receive a discounted price compared to those who purchase after the game officially releases.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We love working with the Cat Lady community, and your feedback will be an essential part of making Cat Lady the best it can be! Community members can get involved by providing feedback and suggestions in our Discord or sending us an email. We will keep the community involved and notified of changes and decisions to the game throughout this process on Discord, Steam, our devlogs, blog, and social media.

We also appreciate that players are the ones who spread the word about their favorite games, whether it’s via talking with friends in-person or if they stream/create video content for wider communities. We want to be especially mindful of providing them with fun assets and tools to make their streams and videos even more engaging and fun (and we enjoy watching them as well, and highly encourage folks who stream or create videos to share their VODs and links so we can help spread the word too!)”

Reviews

“The Best Indie Games Of E3 2019 - The tough as nails roguelike gameplay loop proves that this adventure has more going for it than some lovely visuals and a killer soundtrack.”
Game Informer

“Cat Lady has the potential to be a blockbuster indie when it releases, and I’m not just saying that cause I’m one of the few who beat the demo at the MIX.”
Operation Rainfall

“With incredible, punchy music to back up your fast-paced adventures, it truly feels like the action never stops in Cat Lady.”
