What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The core of "MAXIMUM Action" is based around an excellent FPS experience and satisfying shooting. It's extremely important to me that the community has a say in what aspects of the game promote this goal. Early Access perfectly satisfies this requirement as it allows for "Maximum Action" to quickly and conveniently adapt new features and killer ideas.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Until it's the most MAXIMUMLY ACTIONABLE game on the planet.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of MAXIMUM Action will include...
  • More levels
  • More weapons
  • More enemies
  • More user customization

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Basically the game is already cool but it needs plenty more content and polish. The current state is a satisfying and unique single-player FPS with a focus on player creativity to stylishly shoot and kill in a plethora of ways. Influenced by Hong Kong action and heroic bloodshed, every shootout is a spectacle. Players can enter dozens of levels with any weapon of their choice and begin to experiment with the unique features the game has to offer. From active ragdolls, controllable slow motion, dismemberment, dual wielding, diving, punching, and kicking; MAXIMUM Action is a first-person experience that offers a large array of options and movement that can be chained together for destructive and action-packed gameplay. Levels are well crafted but linear. Further, "Maximum Action" makes up for level linearity with its multitude of outcomes. The game is fully playable and almost all main core mechanics are realized. Where "Maximum Action" remains unfinished is in the content of levels, user customization, and persisting bugs.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will likely increase in price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The development of "MAXIMUM Action" will involve the community through the implementation of feedback from Discord, Twitter, Youtube, Reddit, and Steam Reviews related to the game. Communication with the developer will be streamlined through these social media sites as well as email and others. The community can also participate in the future implementation of the steam workshop through custom levels, weapons, and other mods.”

About This Game

MAXIMUM Action is the stress ball of first-person shooters. If you are looking for a story-driven narrative with complex characters then this is NOT the game for you. But if you are looking for a quick dose of highly replayable slow-motion gun-fu with homages to classic ’80s and '90s action flicks then MAXIMUM Action might just be the retro FPS you’ve been dreaming of.

No complicated skill trees, leveling up, or drawn-out cutscenes, just pure fun that gets straight to the point.

Where MAXIMUM Action shines is in its emphasis on creativity and replayability. The entire game has been designed as a sandbox for the player to experiment in. From simply approaching levels with different combinations of dives, slides, and kicks, to a fully-fledged level editor allowing players to create action in any way they see fit. Further, use the sandbox menu to replay levels with different combinations of weapons or add more enemies to up the challenge.

And with full workshop and mod support, experiment with hundreds of custom levels and weapons to spice up the action!

Getting the best experience out of MAXIMUM Action requires a bit of creativity and imagination from the player, and I understand not everyone is up to the challenge! But if you’ve always wanted to play a role in your own balls to the wall action movie then I’d say give MAXIMUM Action a try!
