What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The core of "Maximum Action" is based around first-person experience and satisfying shooting. It is extremely important to us that the community has a say in what aspects of the game promote this goal. Early Access perfectly satisfies this requirement as it allows for "Maximum Action" to quickly and conveniently adapt new features as well as change direction. The gameplay of "Maximum Action" is also physics-based, meaning that user actions can have a very large number of results. Currently a significant percentage of these results are bugs, and Early Access allows for users to still experience the game while issues are resolved behind the scenes. HELP US BRING THIS ACTION TO THE MAX.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Until it's the most MAXIMUMLY ACTIONABLE game on the planet. Probably another year or two at MAX.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of "Maximum Action" will include
*More levels
*More weapons
*More enemies
*More user customization
*Steam Workshop support!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of "Maximum Action" is a satisfying and unique single-player first-person shooter with a focus on player creativity to stylishly shoot and kill in a plethora of ways. Influenced by hong kong action and heroic bloodshed, every shootout is a spectacle. Players can enter levels with any weapon of their choice and begin to experiment with the unique features "Maximum Action" has to offer. From active ragdolls, controllable slow motion, dismemberment, dual wielding, diving, punching, and kicking; "Maximum Action" is a first-person experience that offers a large array of options and movement that can be chained together for destructive and action-packed gameplay. Levels are well crafted but linear. Further, "Maximum Action" makes up for level linearity with its multitude of outcomes. The game is fully playable and almost all main core mechanics are realized. Where "Maximum Action" remains unfinished is in the content of levels, user customization, save files, and persisting bugs.
Refer to the "About this" section for a full description and list of features.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game may very likely increase in price AFTER Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The development of "Maximum Action" will involve the community through the implementation of feedback from Discord, Twitter, Youtube, Reddit, and Steam Reviews related to the game. Communication with the developer will be streamlined through these social media sites as well as email and others. The community can also participate in the future implementation of the steam workshop through custom levels, weapons, and other mods.”

Foundation Update LIVE

MAXIMUM UPDATE time! The Foundation Update #1 (.42) is live!

(For detailed change-log specs, plz see the Steam forums discussion here).

This update is focusing highly on starting the process of stabilizing the game as-is.

We tackled a lot of the "ease-of-life" issues that hadn't been addressed yet. That said, some of the "need to refactor large amounts of the codebase issues" (specifically lag teleporting and the replay system) have been pushed out to Foundation Update #2 since they're a much bigger issue than just changing something that we've already made in the past. (Read: those will be addressed very soon, but they're big enough changes that one of us will need to spend a whole update just on that and nothing else.)

For a full list of the many bug fixes we did, check the discussion on the Steam forums.

We also added some much-needed options in the menu, including the ability to turn vsync off, turn mouse acceleration off, and invert your mouse controls if needed. Thanks for pointing those out to us. :)

MA is also now be compatible with all sizes of monitors instead of solely 16:9 as it was before. We know some of you guys have been really hoping for this to happen ASAP, so we made sure to prioritize it for your sake.

This update period we also spent a lot of time working on some things that aren't quite finished as of right now, but we're really excited about them so I wanted to mention them here too!

Besides a ton of general polish, revamped menus, HUD and UI - we've been working on getting Steam Workshop support implemented for the level editor (and another SECRET upcoming feature) and am happy to say that it's definitely going to be coming in the next update, barring nothing unexpected happening. This will allow all of you to upload levels (and other SECRET things) from inside MA to the workshop and subscribe to other people's content. These features are not far off from being testable. We'll be giving details on the User Creation Update #1 coming up in a couple weeks. Keep your eyes peeled.

That's what we have to share for the moment! Although this update was very needed on our end, I'm looking forward to the upcoming updates we have planned 'cause we have some really super cool stuff to share with you guys and I can't wait. :) Thanks to every one of you that are supporting this project. It means the world to both of us (but especially George).

Also, don't forget to get your Mom a gift. :)

Update on Project, and Hi!

Hey guys - sorry it's been a little while since we have posted an official announcement. I'm John, who's coming alongside George to help out with the project so he can focus on the more important stuff while I tackle the more "bug-fixy" things.

George has been working every day since the last update hit, and with our POWER COMBINED, things are moving along really nicely. Although we haven't put together any sort of schedule, George and I both agree we'd like to start making regular communication about updates more of a priority. Although we're not sure exactly what that will look like, I CAN tell you that we have an update planned to be released very soon, possibly next week if we can get it together in time - we'll see how things progress. More on that soon.

I'm making a point to be active on the Steam forums here, which I check daily, so if you have suggestions, bugs, or want to talk to the dev team, that should be a good place to do so from here on out. :)

We appreciate all of you more than we can say. Thanks for investing in this project. We'll have a lot more to show and tell you... SOON

-The MA Team
