Why Early Access?

“As a primarily two-people studio, tackling such a large project like "Honey, I joined a Cult" takes a lot of our time. During Early access, we aim to fill the game with additional content and features, new themes and items, as well as engaging mechanics and gameplay. By bringing HIJAC to Early Access, we're hoping to continue development with the support and feedback of our beloved community. We want to keep you involved during all the steps of Early Access, gather your input & opinions, and use it to make HIJAC an even better experience for everyone.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The main purpose of Early Access is to make sure that "Honey, I joined a Cult" turns into a well rounded product for full release. HIJAC will remain in Early Access until we're satisfied it's the complete experience we want it to be.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are treating Early Access version as the base that we will build from, filling the game with more content, themes, characters and interesting nuances.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core features of the game are implemented with many hours of play required to unlock all of the Early Access content and/or complete the game. The game contains approximately: 350 buildable objects, 80 universal unlocks, 90 theme-related unlocks, and an almost limitless range of customization options. There are many additional features that will be added during Early Access that will be announced via our Early Access roadmap. In languages other than English, localised text may sometimes overrun/present as misaligned, but we do not expect this to seriously affect gameplay and we aim to fix this as soon as possible. It is possible that with the impending updates, new features will be only available on brand new save files and not existing saved games. We will resolve this compatibility issue by releasing dedicated game branches to allow players to continue to play older versions of the game using their older saves.

Whilst there are many ways to customize your cult, further themes providing a huge amount of additional content and new end goals will be released during Early Access.

There are bugs and content will change based on player feedback, but our goal is to provide you with something you'll genuinely enjoy and get a good amount of playtime from.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We value our followers (hehe) and early adopters, therefore we're aiming to offer our game at an initial, reduced price while in Early Access.”

About This Game

Honey, I Joined a Cult is a tycoon/management game where you must build and expand your base, supervise your cultists and resources, and increase your faith, funds and following!

Effective management is at the heart of every money-making enterprise and your organisation is no exception! Being snappy dressers isn't enough, your cult must run like a well-oiled hypno wheel. Set schedules for your cultists, develop their skills, level them up and manage food and maintenance systems. Assign tasks to your cultists based on a priority system. So who said that micro-management doesn't work?!

Every great cult needs great interior design. Place, design, and decorate rooms to keep your cultists happy. There is a whole host of weird and wonderful room options and objects, each with a vital role to play in your cult. From polygraph rooms, discombobulator, and spirit chambers to energy spas and the dreaded ministry of alteration.

A cult is only as good as its name (and its followers!). Choose yours wisely when picking for your cult, cult leader, the Divine Being that they worship, the Holy Room in which they prove their dedication and the followers that will become the cultists of tomorrow! Make your cult your own by deciding on:
*A funky symbol
*An epic uniform to impress would-be followers
*An imposing hat to make other cults jealous
*A strange relic to worship and adore

Cultists have needs too and you'll have to ensure that all of yours are fed, watered and having lots of fun! You must take care of your cult's physical and mental well-being to allow them to be the best cult members they can possibly be! It is as they say, cult is only as strong as the cultists!

Your cult leader can be very demanding. Whether it's recruiting specific followers or building certain rooms, be sure to bend to their every whim. Not fulfilling demands will lower their mood and a displeased leader won't be able to perform effective sermons. Cultists can be sent on missions in the local town. Whether it's gathering resources, unlocking new tech or just a demand from your leader, the Covert Ops room is the perfect place to plan!

Use all your charms to recruit new followers, who will bring in resources and eventually climb through the ranks to become full cultists. Discontented followers will simply leave, so be sure to turn that frown upside down!
