What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Fated Kingdom is an experimental game that is developed by a team of two people. We have to put a lot of effort to maintain a high level of execution. We believe that Early Access will help optimize the development process by getting feedback from the players, and will also help form an active community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Before applying for the publication of Fated Kingdom on Steam, we made a detailed work plan for Early Access, as well as a roadmap, which can be seen below. We release updates every two weeks or more often if required. To implement all the planned ideas we need at least another 6 months., so a full-scale release is scheduled for Autumn 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The release version of Fated Kingdom will include more content than at the time of early access: 200 cards, 5-6 character classes and 80 board squares. Graphics and interface will be improved, new features will also appear in accordance with the project development plan attached below.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build of Fated Kingdom includes all the necessary functionality in order to play a full-fledged party alone or in the company of 2-4 people. Available 150 cards, 5 character classes and 70 board squares. The game is stable, but there may still be minor flaws, which will be corrected as updates are released.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. We do not plan to increase Fated Kingdom price after the end of Early Access. We also guarantee that we will not release any DLC until a full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Early Access provides ample opportunities to receive feedback. During the development of a board game with a large number of random events, we need to take into account the players impressions as well as answer their questions. For the most part, we will do this in the discussion section on Steam. Based on feedback, we will adjust the development process, as well as make a roadmap for future updates.”

Update #26

Version: 0.5.30.162.
Download size: 55 MB.

We are pleased to present you the 26th update of the digital board game Fated Kingdom. We decided to pay attention to the visual part of the project and added five new character figurines. Previously, we used one for all guild, it was a temporary option, and now each player will have their own special miniature.

We also added new anti-aliasing. Previously, we used the built-in Unity solution that worked at an acceptable level. With the release of this update, SMAA anti-aliasing is used in the game. It is better and more efficient. We plan to continue improving the graphics by adding lighting and normal maps to most of the textures in the game.

Of course, we added three new cards. We also added a new square and some new flavors on the cards. We also fixed a rare bug with the choice of guilds and made the necessary corrections in the localization files. Work on the next major update is going according to plan. Release is coming!

New Content:
  • 3 cards: «Trap», «Full Moon» and «Obsidian Tower».
  • Square - «Wicked Strand» (Discard a card, draw 2 cards, and choose 1.).
  • Flavor text for 4 cards: «Ancestral Tower», «Gatherer of Skulls», «Undead Bull» and «Camping Flask».
  • 5 character figurines, one for each guild in the game.

Other Changes:
  • Fixed errors and typos in descriptions of more than 10 cards.
  • Unity standard anti-aliasing has been replaced by more efficient SMAA.
  • The number of dice in the Heir’s combat roll can no longer exceed 6.
  • Fixed a bug due to which two players sometimes could choose the same guild.
  • Minor text and localization fixes.

Thank you for playing Fated Kingdom!

About This Game

Fated Kingdom is a co-op board game for 2-4 people with full freedom of action and no forced rules. The Kingdom of Kinmarr is falling apart, and in order to survive in this dark fantasy setting, players need to roll the dice, draw cards from the decks and move characters along a dynamic game board.

KEY FEATURES

  • Classic tabletop experience in digital form
  • 4 player co-op
  • Dynamic game board with squares generation
  • Sandbox with no forced rules
  • Realistic physics
  • Dark and cruel fantasy world

WORLD AND STORY

Fated Kingdom takes place in a dark fantasy world. The kingdom of Kinmarr was flooded with monsters, marauders and undead. Folk leaves dead fields in fear, and the whole army was defeated on the march. It seems that Fate itself wants the country to plunge into the abyss of despair and chaos.

In order to resist numerous calamities and regain control of the country, the king calls on the help of his most faithful servants. Players take on the role of members of powerful guilds, each with its own history and a set of abilities. Despite the great differences between guilds, they are all interested in saving the kingdom.

At the time of the start of the game, 10 years have passed, and during this time the guild has not succeeded in its mission. Kingdom shrank to the capital, several large cities and war-devastated lands in their environs. There is no clear plot line in the game, but on the cards you can find flavors about the world and the creatures inhabiting it.

GAMEPLAY

The main goal of the game is to hunt for hostile creatures. Players go on long patrols over the lands devastated and disfigured by war and hunt the enemies of the crown in exchange for gold and favor of the ruling dynasty.

One of the key mechanics is Fate. Its level reflects the willingness of the citizens of Kinmarr to fight with numerous misfortunes. Fate grows after each player’s defeat in battle, and when it reaches a critical value, the kingdom disintegrates under the onslaught of circumstances.

Starting with the weakest opponents, players get the first combat trophies that can be exchanged for equipment. It will increase the chance that the next patrol will be successful, and the level of Destiny will decrease. Players constantly choose how to manage available resources - coins, skill cards and items. The choice of one player can completely change the course of the whole game.

There are many ways to play Fated Kingdom. Players can agree among themselves and act together, helping each other in difficult times. This will make the game longer, but will certainly please fans of teamplay. But the rules do not force participants to play that way. And if for success you need to substitute, betray, or even deliver a sneaky stab in the back, then why not do it?

TABLETOP SANDBOX

Starting the development, we set ourselves the goal of giving the players the exiting time spent at a real gaming table with a beautiful board, with decks of cards, dices and heroes. To do this, we have implemented all the main advantages of real tabletop games, the most important of which we consider full freedom of action. The game takes place in real time, and all actions are done by its participants manually.

Unlike many other digital board games, Fated Kingdom has no control over the implementation of rules on the software side. They are clearly spelled out in the Rulebook that is available in the menu. As in real life, the players themselves must ensure that the game goes by the rules. If desired, and by mutual consent, the rules may be changed, shortened or supplemented. And, of course, at the table you can cheat. The main thing is that opponents do not notice it!
