What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are under no illusions. Warfare 1944 will take time, community feedback, and hard work to get right. We are in early access because we respect the time and work required to complete a game. We are only done when our community tells us we are done, not when we tell our community we are done.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The answer to this is simple. We are in early access for as long as we need to be. We do not gauge our release dates on timelines, but on development milestones. We release games when they are ready, not when we think they will be ready.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Warfare 1944 is planned to include a wide variety of ambitious features, including large-scale environments, destruction, pilot-able aircraft, command-able naval craft, and a significant amount of new content.

Early versions of Warfare 1944 will focus exclusively on infantry combat, until we get that right. Once that is done, we will move onto ground vehicles, then aircraft, and lastly naval vessels.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of Warfare 1944 is focused on large-scale environments and infantry combat. Gameplay is much simpler and straight forward, however new updates will continue adding complexity. Our objective is to always ensure Warfare 1944 is fun and playable, even in early access states! So expect gameplay to change radically as we continue to introduce new features.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game price will be increased upon a full release. Funds raised from Warfare 1944 will go to the development of Operation: Harsh Doorstop and OHDCore, a free game developed by us... also available on Steam.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our community IS the development process. Our games have all started as community projects, and they will end as community projects.

If you are interested in helping to develop our games, please contact us! Community feedback is critical to our work, so ensure that you get involved!

As a community member... you can have real influence on this game. We are not an untouchable industry studio... we are a bunch of dudes in our basements making games. So message us on our Steam forums, and let's make something together!”

About This Game

Warfare 1944 is a community developed game similar to Red Orchestra, Forgotten Hope, and Battlefield 1942. Our objective is to revive many elements of older games that we miss in modern shooters, and to build a game that our own community can enjoy.

The first versions of Warfare 1944 will cover basic infantry combat, large scale environments, and dynamically changing objectives that encourage teamwork and coordination. Future versions of Warfare 1944 will include new factions, weapons, vehicles, and brutally realistic gameplay mechanics.

Warfare 1944 focuses on tactical gameplay. Bullets are deadly, one shot can kill. Team communication is essential and Warfare 1944 features robust proximity voice communication which allows you to communicate with your fellow soldiers alongside you.

Wield a wide variety of weapons and equipment while you attempt surviving the chaos of war. Rally your friends to your team, and fight in massive battles across vast open landscapes. Keep your wits, and defeat your enemies. Warfare is unforgiving.

Warfare 1944 is inspired by a number games we adore. Our art style is inspired by the gorgeous tactical shooter Due Process. ⁽ˡᶦⁿᵏ⁾ Mission objectives and team-play mechanics are similar to the visceral tactical shooter Squad. ⁽ˡᶦⁿᵏ⁾ Weapon handling is similar to the iconic Red Orchestra series. ⁽ˡᶦⁿᵏ⁾ Lastly, our maps are all deeply influenced by the legendary Battlefield 1942.

Our mission is to create an epic, tactical, large scale, spiritual successor to Battlefield 1942. We also enjoy single-player games such as Ravenfield ⁽ˡᶦⁿᵏ⁾ and are focusing on creating a robust single-player experience in future updates.

Warfare 1944 is built on top of our OHDCore framework for Unreal Engine 4. This framework is used by Drakeling Labs to build games for our community, including free games such as Operation: Harsh Doorstop.

Supporting Warfare 1944 allows us to continue developing OHDCore, which allows us to release more features (for free) to our community through games like Operation: Harsh Doorstop.

We hope you enjoy Warfare 1944 and continue to support our mission to make great games for our loyal community members. We look forward to seeing you on the battlefield.
