What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Gathering feedback from a community of players will help me understand what's working, what needs improvement and, most importantly, make sure the game is enjoyable on every level. I wanted to use Early access to test the game as it is being built and get community feedback in Early development. Its all about community involvement.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“With the features that we have planned for the game the estimated time for full release is around 16 months. That could change depending on the features and popularity of the game itself. If the community really likes the game and we are growing and the community has requested more be added to the game then it could take longer to reach full release. “Basically - until we're sure to offer our customers a great, bug-free and high-value product. This can only be achieved with a big response from the community, lots of feedback and continuous tests. With such data collected, we will work hard to develop the game, implement requested features and then continue to add new updates to the full version”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access will only have the first part of the game to play, once we get the first part polished and working with little to no bugs, we will then start on the Major disaster that will take place in the game, that will change the way the entire world looks and feels. This is the main part of the game and what will challenge you to survive any way you can. At the end result we want a well polished, finished, exciting fun game to enjoy.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game currently offers a single-player deep mountain survival experience, with some game features like crafting, trapping, exploring, building, hunting, trading and just trying to survive. The day and night cycles along with the dynamic weather system is all working beautifully and add to the feel of the game. Some Animal AI are working and in the game as well, but still needs improvement. There are also more than a dozen POI's to explore.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, as new content is added the price will increase. Those that choose to get it now will save in the future.
In the very early access version ( version 0.0.1 - 0.9.9 ) the game will be $14.99
( version 1.0.0 - 1.9.9 ) will be $19.99
(Version 2.0.0 - 2.9.9 ) will be $24.99
( Version 3.0.0 - 3.9.9 ) will be $29.99
Final Release Version 5.0 will be $34.99 This will be the last price change.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

““Our goal is to work together with the members of the A2G community. We will keep our players informed of our plans and progress through our communication channels: Steam forum, our website, Discord, and Twitter . We will be listening to the voice of the community and we are looking forward to constructive discussions aimed at creating the gameplay experience that we will all enjoy. Already in the first 3 months we have built a great little community, come and join us on Discord to see and hear everything about bugout.”

BugOut Report #1

This is a quick update just to let everyone know that I am now working full time on the game again, for those of you that have been keeping up, I recently moved my family and studio to the Appalachian Mountains. We are settled in and I was able to start back full time on BugOut . I uploaded the first new build to our Steam experimental branch today,it is NOT on a public live branch yet. Having a few issues with steam limits and the new terrain system we have , I will be working on this over the next couple of days and will keep you posted.

I still have a few days of hard work and some bug squashing then we can start talking about public release. The new build has male and female characters, but I had to hold off on the character customization until after the 1.0 release.

More information will follow over the next few days, just lookout for the BugOut Report.

Happy Independence Day

Hello everyone , sorry for the long delay on the update. The game is coming along great, I know that I am behind on getting the update out, but sometime family has to come first, Me and the family are in the middle of moving to another state, so I have had to focus on my family and there needs. As far as the game I am still working on it and hoping that once I get moved I can go back to full time work on the game. So far I am very pleased with how the game is turning out, this week I have been working on the integration of the new characters and also integrating the new building system. All seems to be working ok, but there are still some bugs that need to be worked out. The new update is playable but I am still not ready for the public to play it yet, As soon as the bugs for the building system are worked out I will feel better about showing it off and letting some players try it out. Character clothing has also been a big issue, it takes several hours to do one article of clothing, so this has been put on the back burner until I can get the other integrations working as intended.

I would also like to take this time to apologize for the delays, and the lack of communication, this is an area that I really need to work on. I will do my best to communicate much more and let you guys know where I am and what I am doing. Once I get the update out , I hope that everyone can see all the hard work and really enjoy what Bugout is supposed to be. Thanks to all of those that are still supporting me, it means a lot to me. Me and the family should be moved into our new home by the end of next week, and I should be able to focus full time on the game again.

Sorry again for the delays and I hope you all have a great 4th of July.

About This Game

Short Description

The year is 2019, the news is crawling with fear mongering stories of things to come, the end is near, climate change, WW3, Asteroids, Civil Unrest and anything else they can think of, but in the background, you can see the government prepping for something, but what. You decide its time to go off the grid and prepare for the worst.
In this Modern Day Survival Simulator you will be faced with surviving in the Appalachian mountains while you prepare for an apocalyptic event. Hunt gather, build, explore and trade to get what you need to survive, but keep up with whats going on, its about to get really bad in the world, will you be prepared, Come and experience BugOut.

The fear of something major coming soon has taken its effect on you. You feel like you need to do something to prepare yourself to survive the unknown catastrophe. You sell all of your personal belongings and head off to the mountains to start a new life leaving this old one behind. With only a backpack and a few things to eat you really don't have much to start with, after hitching a ride into the Appalachians, you are dropped off at a mountainside trader, your adventure starts here.

Before you can do anything you will need to get some experience in bugging out. The game starts off in the Appalachian Mountains at a mountainside trading post. Talk to people at the trading post to learn how to get started. Here you can buy some starter gear and head off into the mountains. You can freely hike around the mountains and learn survival skills, or you can accept one of the challenges from the Trading post to receive a reward and maybe some extra skill points if you complete the challenge. As you gain more experience, you will be able to craft more items do more things. While on your Hiking and Camping you can gather extra herbs and other items, and sell them to the trader for some extra cash. The cash can then be used to better your gear. After you have reached enough experience, the piece of land beside the trading post will be available to you at a price. Raise some money and buy the land to start building a full out BugOut home and prepare for the upcoming world-changing event. You can even make it completely self-sufficient and Off-grid with solar power and a water well. If you want you can also choose to grow and jar your own food or use the money to buy long-term storable food. Upgrade your home to survive many different scenarios or if you really want to go all out build a bunker, then stockpile your bunker with everything you think you will need.Be sure get a radio or PC so you can keep up with what is going on, you never know when the time will come that you will need to BugOut.

Be sure get a radio so you can keep up with what is going on, you never know when the time will come that you will need to BugOut.

Will you be prepared?

Prepare as much as you can, an event can happen at random times.
Increase your skills in hunting, fishing, herbalism, building and much more. The better your skill level, the easier it will be to survive when the disaster strikes.

Disaster Events will not be available during stage 1 or 2 of Early access

When a world disaster strikes you will need to use all you have learned to survive the event.

( Example : If a nuclear war was to happen, you would have to be in a sealed living area, with enough food, water and other resources you would need to survive the fallout, and then enough to use after the event until you can acquire more, plus you would need gear to test for radiation and explore infected areas) This is only one example, other events may affect you in an opposite way.
After the main event has happened at you come out of your home or bunker, you will be faced with lots of new challenges and a huge open world to explore. Stay in the mountains if you can still sustain, or explore the towns and cities, travel around and gather more resources to survive. Depending on the event you may have to deal with AI players, or different types of animals, you just don't know, thats why it is best to prepare all you can before the event.
