What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I feel that working in public is very beneficial to me as a novice game maker. Seeing what sticks, resonates, or is hated by players has a big impact on my decisions. Reacting to feedback, reworking systems, and fixing bugs is a huge learning experience for me, and the game is better off for it.

Early Access is less beneficial to you, the player! This story-based game is incomplete in some places, outright broken in others, and is not polished enough in yet another ones. Your feedback is powerful at this stage, and sometimes I can't believe I didn't come up with ideas as good as community ones.

However, if you are looking for a complete experience and don’t want to participate in the community feedback, I advise you to wait until the full release — don’t worry, the game will be waiting for you.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I’m planning to finish the main story in about 12 months. I'll put quality before speed, and will take the time needed to make everything the best it can be.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Every detail of the game is open to feedback, from main character design to the little grunts sorcerers make on getting hit with a fireball. I will listen to the players and improve the game accordingly, along with writing new stories and making adventures to go on. Overall, the game is feature-ready, and has about a third of the content planned for the full version.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Almost all of the planned mechanics are ready, including factory-building, fighting duels, talking to characters and completing quests, coping with stress, changing your character and decorating your house. There are usability and accessibility features, including dark mode, optional fixed camera, dyslexia friendly font and variable text size for conversations, and key rebinding.

Content-wise, this Early Access version includes Act 1 out of three, which contains 3 big adventures and a few smaller errands to complete. In total, that’s about 3–5 hours of gameplay. In the best RPG traditions, the quests are variable and the outcomes numerous, so the second playthrough might be quite different from the first.

There are certainly some bugs, typos and quest logic mistakes. The game features a robust saving system, makes permanent saves at important locations, and auto-saves your progress as you go, but please — do save often.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the price will stay the same.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I talk to the players through my , and I hope it will be a part of every-day development of the game. There are several roles there, depending on how involved you want to be: from “active feedbacker” and “patch notes enjoyer” to a passive “mac version awaiter”. You can also contact me privately through email, and I appreciate everyone doing so.

Inside the game, there is a special tool called Feedback Machine, which collects game info you can send me to inform me of bugs, typos, balancing issues, or just your thoughts in the specific moment of the game. It also has a few links to contact me, including Discord and email.

While I can’t make any promises, I will do my best to fix players' broken saves and fix bugs often. I hope to use Steam announcements to write patch notes with every update. I’m also planning to review feedback carefully, and adjust my plans based on it.”

About This Game

Magical industrial revolution is here! Your old job? Obsolete. Time to update the resume, buddy. What’s your past? Looks? Skills? And most importantly, how much are you hoping to make at the company?

Pick and choose departments and engines, each ready to produce its own blend of magic. Go deeper and calibrate every detail to maximize the factory’s potential. Keep the workers happy or productive, but don’t forget — the market cap must go up.

Your sorceress demands the best your factory has to offer! Mass-produce incantations to fight in turn-based duels. Each turn, the fates will deal you a hand of magical elements. Find the most effective way to use them and build out a perfect spell.

The sorcery has just been invented. Everyone, from farmers and workers, to kings and men of means, has a lot to say about this. How will you impact their lives? Use blunt magical force, find unorthodox solutions, or argue with everyone to the death, in an attempt to make sense of the changing world.

Between your adventures, return to the corporate town, decorate your house, kick back beside the fireplace of the local tavern, and recount your feats to anyone who will listen. After all, don't we all deserve some recognition for our hard work?

Early Access Note
Fay’s Factory is my handcrafted, story-based game, with no procedural generation. The game is in Early Access, and the story and a few features are incomplete. At this point, you can get 3-5 hours of adventuring out of it. If you still decide to support the development with your money and feedback, I will be forever grateful. But please, don’t hesitate to wait until the release version — it will be the best one yet.
