Operation Market Garden: Day 1

Members of the 1st British Airborne rally after landing outside of Heelsum on September 17th, 1944.

September 17th, 1944, exactly 74 years ago, the British 1st Airborne Division jumped out of C-47 Skytrains and landed in Horsa gliders onto the fields near Oosterbeek & Heelsum outside Arnhem. It was a beautiful sunny day without much resistance from German garrisons.  Alongside the 101st Airborne dropped on the outskirts of Eindhoven and the 82nd Airborne at Nijmegen. All with the clear objective to seize key bridges as soon as possible, for Montgomery and the tank corps to push up straight north to Arnhem.

On this anniversary it is important for us to respect the fallen and recognize the struggle that those on both sides endured during Operation Market Garden. For us at Periscope Games, our name “Post Scriptum” is very much rooted in respecting the dignity of those caught into struggle of war and battle instead glorifying that in anyway.

In honor of the 74th anniversary of Operation Market Garden, expect to see some new updates in regards to Post Scriptum this week

Update v1.0.75 - Changelog

Hello everyone!

We are pushing another patch for the weekend. Here is the changelog for it.

-Gameplay: Tickets from 800 to 400 on all layers
-Gameplay: Radioman and Sapper are now equipped with G41 and G43
-Gameplay: Strafe run are activated after 0 seconds for faster call in

-Add: New lighting and shader on Driel and Doorwerth (should improve GPU and CPU performances)
-Add: Localization SPANISH (previous one didn't work)
-Add: New sounds for Radio
-Add: New Infantry sandbag model

-Fix: Mines can no longer be placed on characters
-Fix: MSP/Red zone alignement issue. MSP should now match completely the red zone

In the next update, we will add a few new game mechanics for the Logistic section.
We have received many feedback about logistic members being able to build constructions and deployables.
We totally agree with this feedback and decided to start working on it.
All deployables and constructions will be accessible to the section member, except for the FOB that only the logi leader can deploy.

We will also add a new mechanic to PS, the "Ammo Dump". This is something that can be deployed from the construction truck.
It will cost 500 supplies and will act like a Construction Truck.
Drop the Ammo Dump anywhere on the map and you now have 500 construction point within a 70 meter radius. They can be used by any Section Leader to deploy constructions as well as emplaced weapons.

This next update will also bring a resource counter to the UI so you know exactly how many resources you have left inside the truck and inside the ammo dump.

We believe that these three additions will be more than welcome by all the Logistic players out there.

Let us know what you think about this in the comments or on Discord where we have our #Feedback channel.

Thanks to all of you for your support and we'll see you soon!

Cheers,

About This Game

Post Scriptum is a WW2 simulation game, focusing on historical accuracy, large scale battle, difficult learning curve and an intense need for cohesion, communication and teamwork. Players will relive the events of ‘Operation Market Garden’ across the fields and towns of Holland. This massive Allied assault consisted of a coordination of the British and American Airborne to capture key bridges while the British XXXth Corps moved to reinforce them through Highway 69. However, consecutive delays in consolidating ground from the north of Belgium through Nijmegen forced the 1st British Airborne Division in Arnhem to make a stand much longer than anticipated. With no successful link between the XXXth Corps and the Airborne in sight, the seventh and final bridge in Arnhem was considered lost.

‘The Bloody Seventh’ is our name for the initial focus of the project as we feel it succinctly details the struggle that the British paratroopers had to endure while waiting for their army counterpart to establish a link through the lower Rhine.

Players will be given the option to fight with the British Airborne Division, British XXX Corps or several branches of the German Army, such as the Wehrmacht or the Waffen SS. It’s a rare opportunity to experience the intense battlefield that was the Battle of Arnhem, which stretched across farms, woods, villages and city areas. Each area is being accurately recreated from archival references that range from street level to aerial images. Whether you’re jumping out of a plane, resupplying friendlies or operating a tank you will find multiple reasons to drop back into the battlefield in this grand scaled representation of a WW2 setting never explored in a large multiplayer environment.
