What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We choose Early Access because it makes sense for a fighting game that aims to grow with the comunity.
Making new characters, stages and new features while getting feedbacks from users is the best option in our opinion.

The development team is rather small (one developer), and so it is hard to test every aspects of the game, especially online.
We want to make sure the game works as well as possible for everyone before the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It will be in Early Access for at least 6 months.
Time to make sure the game becomes bug free and that online match works as smooth as possible.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to incorporate a ranked online match mode.
With ranking, we also would like to add monthly leaderboards per region.
We plan to add more characters and stages in the future.
We would like to add a story mode eventually.
And we will try to add a 4 players mode online if there will be enough players.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In the current state, Roof Rage cover those features :
  • 8 fully playable characters
  • 8 stages
  • Local and online match
  • Random game or steam invitation for online match 1vs1 (stock match, no ranking)
  • Local game with different modes : Team Match, Free for All, Practice, Score match all up to 8 players
  • CPUs that are actually hard to beat, 9 levels
  • Save a match and Replay
  • A move-list for each characters

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not plan to change the price when we leave early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will listen to all feedbacks, and get bug reports from the community.
Our goal is to have a bigger scope for testing the game online (beta tests were done with less than 50 testers), so the community will have a big role to help the game gets better and also balancing it.”

New Build v0.7.5

This version fixed most importantly the bug related to the showdown filter.
Now all the stages have a handmade showdown version.
There should be no more black screen or weird glitch here.

Balance update :
- Hoon got his diag down air buffed
- Thyra, Punk and Long got nerfed a little on the same Spike : Diag down air.
- Reduced the time of the average stun for every hit. Aerial from 50 to 40 frames. Ground from 40 to 35 frames.
- Reduced a bit the time of hit freeze, from 20 to 15 frames. The game should feel a bit faster.

Menu update :
- Change selection is now first in the podium menu
- Rematch is second.

Fix :
- Punk down Tilt leading to death if falling off stage.
- Thyra falling from dojo slopes after a rematch.
- Removed some options in the podium after a replay.

Update build 0.7.4

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry this is the first time I announce an update here but I have been updating the game a few times already since the release to fix critical issues.
Some of the bugs are still not fixed, like crashing during the startup, and I'm still looking at how to fix those issues.

In this update though, I've made navigation with keyboard a lot more simple, because so many of you complained about that.

Before you could remap your keyboard keys and mess up the navigation in the menu with it and on top of that the default keys were not ideal at all.

So now, the keyboard navigation in the menu is static :
- up, down to navigate
- left, right, to change settings
- Enter to confirm or to add a keyboard player in the selection menu
- Escape to go back or unselect your character
- F1 to toggle fullscreen
- Tab to switch team
- no more use of the Space Bar because it was conflicting.

You can still remap your keyboard keys for the combat.
I added a button to reset keyboard controls to default in case people need to delete their keys preferences.

Another thing to fix issues some players had :
Now when you enter the selection screen there is no player activated at all, I removed the auto added players because it was creating issues for some of you.
Now you need to press Start or Enter to add a controller or a keyboard player.
CPUs are still there automatically.

I also fixed a crash and a black screen after the map selection.
I'm still fixing crashes, I will come back with another patch really soon, thanks for your understanding.
