Why Early Access?

“We are releasing a fully featured version of the game. However, there are many many things we want to add that we haven't had a chance to finish. These additional mechanics and pieces of content are not necessary for the experience, but we think they will add a great deal to the final balance of the game, especially late game. We also need a lot of player feedback for how to balance the game for extended PvP and Base raiding, and we plan on tweaking a lot of these systems with the help of the community over the Early Access period as we put the final touches on all the additional content we have planned.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Full Release will be in early 2019”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the final version of the game we will be introducing many more powerful and fun Bot AI classes to craft, many additional Pirate Raid mechanics, Flying Vehicles, Massive Battle Mechs, several additional game modes (like horde mode and team vs team base defense), and of course a ton more content, from Equipment and Weapons, Structure types, Animal classes, and more.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This Early Access version is a fully featured version of the game. Animals, Pirate Raids, PvP combat, Base Building, Corporations, and Bot AI are all implemented to create a full cohesive survival experience. We will continue to polish and improve these systems over the course of Early Access release.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, we are going to be pricing the game at an introductory price during Early Access as a thank you for helping to support our development process. When we leave Early Access we will be modifying our price to a final Launch Price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have an extremely tight relationship with our community, and constantly listen to suggestions, bug reports, and reports of gaming experiences on discord and on steam forums. We release very frequent patches with the aim of improving the gameplay, feel of the game, UI ease of use, and more.”

EA Patch #18: Bug fixes from Engine version upgrade

Greetings overseers!

Today's patch is a relatively small one due to most of the team being out for prolonged holidays, but we have some bugfixes for annoying issues and some fallout from the engine upgrade. See below

  • Increase performance of many different elements of the game based on performance profiles gathered.
  • Some fixes for VXGI settings not being setup properly on game start causing some rendering performance issues
  • Fixed for AI constantly chattering, their less important messages should be much less frequent
  • Fix for AI sending radio message with low priority messages
  • Fixed character collision issue.
  • Can't merge corporations with more than one shield
  • Made the one cheat to rule them all better.
  • Made sure a regular interact doesn't appear while placing turrets. Structure interact will be shown once placed.
  • Fixed build menu scrolling issue.
  • Prevent player from firing with an inventory or build menu open.
  • Generators all get 1 more slot to start.
  • Increase max search results during server search
  • Vehicles are now displayed on map
  • Unhooked the pirate raid and tutorial systems. Pirates will now raid any corporation over 10M value
  • Add better FX for charging station - show a tether to a player when charging.
  • Fix an issue causing charging station to not work in SP
  • Fix an issue causing charging station radius to be much larger than normal
  • Placeholder Tutorial game selection in SP/Hosted menu. Will eventually move most tutorial functionality into this selection, instead of main game mode.
  • No longer show negative HP on dead Animals in UI

EA Patch #17: Major engine upgrade



Greetings overseers!

Today we are releasing our major engine upgrade to UE4.19! This will help us continue to develop the game with the new features and improvements in the engine, as well as bring some major upgrades to you, the players!

In particular, we now have VXGI 2.0 integrated, which should make basic VXGI functionality much more accessible to the average PC! If you have a reasonably recent GPU, try the game with VXGI on low or medium to see some new lighting FX that should be much more performant!

Also, Ansel is now available in our game out of the box, meaning you can take those high res 360 screenshots of your sweet base and all your bots!

We have a number of additional bug fixes and changes listed below.

Engine
  • Updated engine to UE4.19, fixing various rendering and settings related issues
  • Updated VXGI to VXGI 2.0 bring major performance improvements
  • Updated Ansel to latest versions allowing ansel to work out of the box

Game
  • Activate cataclysm mode on all servers on a 2 week timer.
  • Cataclysm mode will not be activated on SP or Hosted games.
  • Wiped all save files for SP, Hosted, and Servers
  • Fix for scrapping stacks - scrapping will give you the stack amount of resources
  • Fixed cheat access in SP and Hosted games
  • Hot-swap key (T) will now properly swap back and forth between handy and main hand weapon
  • Night time will now be a bit darker
  • Fix the "fell out of world" detection to properly catch you and teleport you back to where you fell from
  • Major optimization pass for UI
  • Major optimization pass for SP
  • Fixed a crash bug in server list

UI
  • Major optimizations to map and compass icons
  • Added a confirmation box to delete save
  • Map icons will now refresh position in realtime so there's no lag while scrolling/zooming
  • Dead bots corpse icons will now be properly labeled with their names
  • Updated main menu newsmessage to pull from a place that can be more easily modified

AI
  • Bots will no longer be able to store non-liquids into liquid containers
  • Populated all the proper bot audio from some that were missing
  • Fixed Mauler collision size

Structures
  • Turrets are now properly counted towards colony value
  • Fix triangle ceiling attach points
  • Fixed corner support issue
  • Fixed dome support issue
  • Fix a support issue that was causing ceilings, and anything attached to ceilings, to hover forever after all foundations are removed
  • Fix wall light material and light settings
  • Fixed a bug where charging station sometimes wouldn't work in SP after reloading
  • Players can now open auto-doors while mounted on a vehicle
  • Increase HP of long pipelines by 2x

Outpost Zero blends the genres of Multiplayer Base Building Survival and Simulation games in a Sci-Fi universe.

You and your robotic crewmates were sent to this planet for one purpose - to prepare a working habitat for the future waves of human colonists eager to escape the dying earth. Gaiya's untold natural resources are a juicy target for interstellar big business. Healthy competition among competing corporations drive the dangerous expeditions. Will you succeed in establishing a profitable foothold on this mysterious world, or will the perils of Gaiya and the ruthless corporations out to exploit her natural resources be too much for you to handle?

Fight against a variety of native alien creatures, and defend your base against roving bands of pirates and enemy raiders. Attack rival players’ strongholds to destroy their operations and loot their resources. Craft upgraded weapons and armor, and lead AI squadmates into battle against your enemies.



With skill and cunning, this hostile planet can be transformed into a thriving colony with a fully functioning society of AI robots. Setup mining outposts, harvest resources, create supply chains, and build a stable economy with automated factories to create essential goods for your survival. Create a base for safe refuge and infrastructure to keep your AI outfitted, healthy, and happy.



Construct robots and train them to defend your outpost. Keep your Outpost running at peak efficiency by crafting gear and assigning jobs to your crewmates. Build them luxurious quarters and raise their morale by entertaining them and satisfying their needs. Lead them into battle, and set them up to defend your base from invaders. Build a society of happy, efficient, and powerful robot citizens.



Contend with the threatening world of Gaiya as it continually tries to destroy everything you've built. Weather dangerous sandstorms, take shelter from meteor showers, survive deadly earthquakes, and cower before the might of an erupting volcano. Use your engineering skills to build a base that can withstand anything this dangerous planet can throw at it, from pirate raids to rampaging beasts, and keep yourself and your crewmates safe and sound in the sheltering walls of your outpost.



As you evolve your colony from survival to dominate the local ecosystem, you will have access to higher tiers of items. A full RPG stat system gives you limitless possibilities in how you outfit yourself and your AI robots. Build railguns, powered armor, jetpacks, mining lasers, gliders, jump boots, shield generators, massive battery packs, and more as you augment your robotic frame to be the ultimate power on the planet. Create, train, and outfit expert weapon and armorsmith robots that can craft super-powered weaponry and gear for your forces. Then take the fight to the deadly creatures populating the most hostile areas of the world, and take down prehistoric monsters undreamed of on Earth, as well as rival Outposts and pirate hideouts swarming with unfriendly foes.



Form a corporation and invite your friends to join, giving them all control of the robots and automated facilities in the base. Set other corporations to allied, neutral, or rival status, and wage war against them. Measure your corporation's worth on the server in leaderboards that indicate who is currently winning the economic war on Gaiya. Contend with anarchist space pirates intent on stealing your hard won natural resources, and fend off higher and higher level attacks as your outpost value skyrockets, weathering constant raids against you when you become the leading power on the server.
