Why Early Access?

“Everyone who tries VR says the same thing: This is so amazing! I wish there were a game that did ____." We decided that day that we had a story to tell, and VR was the right medium to realize our vision.

We worked to make Sellsword VR the kind of Action RPG that we always wanted to play that first day - a great melee combat experience with quality visuals, a compelling story, and tons of great content to explore. Early access gives us a chance to open the game up to others, get feedback on our creation, and continue refining our gameplay and level designs to match what our players want and enjoy.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're a small family studio - we all work full time jobs during the day, developing Sellsword VR in our spare time. We anticipate the game being in Early Access for several months as we complete Story Mode and continually add content.

With enough Early Access support, we hope to move into full-time development and significantly reduce completion time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

We plan to release the story episodically, which will in turn unlock new items, weapons, job classes, abilities, missions, and gameplay mechanics in both game modes as players explore the new content. We won't be charging our players per episode - we hate having it done to us, too!

The full release version will contain the complete story. Players will have access to mission content as they unlock locations in the story.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Melee combat in the game is fun and challenging, and the game's environment is fully interactive. Flammable objects catch fire, jars break, and smaller objects can be thrown at enemies to damage them. Enemy animations are dynamic - they react to player movements and attacks! The result is a satisfying and immersive combat experience that's a blast to play. You can literally trip an enemy, or hit one so hard it flies across the room, smashing and breaking a bunch of stuff in the process!

Game Content

Initially, players will only have access to MISSION MODE, the "quick play" version of the game. This will limit the number of available missions until the first STORY MODE update drops. However - Gold, XP, and items found / purchased will carry if you like to grind,'ll have money to burn when we drop in shiny new equipment (once the shop is open). If you like to explore, EXPLORE...there are secrets everywhere!

Job Classes

The current version of the game includes 1 of the 5 planned character classes. Each level you gain awards you Job Points, which you can use to customize your character's stats and abilities in that class. Don't worry - we thought ahead and developed a versioned and upgradeable save file system , so there should be no need for character wipes as development progresses.


The shop will open in our first content update. We plan to add shields, accessories, and consumable items in the next few weeks.

Music & Sound

The soundtrack for the game is not yet complete. Players will have only ambient sound in missions at first. This is pretty normal for most VR games, but we envisioned Sellsword VR to have a full soundtrack, similar to other games in the genre that aren't VR.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We play a lot of Early Access titles ourselves - and believe that players should be rewarded for helping in its development with a lower cost of entry. You stuck by us and helped make the game what it is - you should pay less for joining us earlier. Once you buy Sellsword VR, you're buying the WHOLE GAME, and we hope you'll talk to us about what you love and hate about playing it.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have an active forum on our website as well as here on Steam, which will allow us to interact with players and fans. We want to hear about players' experiences in Sellsword VR, and incorporate their likes, dislikes, and ideas into the game.”

IMPORTANT! Development of Sellsword VR is on hold!

Before you buy - in its current state, the game features about 1 hour of gameplay.

The demo level from PAX West is included, along with additional dungeon and arena levels. It's tons of fun to slash and destroy stuff - and you'll enjoy tripping, shoving, and smacking Gobbie around with your sword (or his furniture)!

We had big plans for SellswordVR, and hope to return to it someday! We think the game is unique and fun to play, but we also don't want to mislead anyone!

For several generations, the King's Guard has kept vigilant watch over the kingdom, resulting in the longest period of peace ever known. The people no longer worry about security or threats from monsters or man, free to pursue their passions rather than learn swordplay and magic. All was peaceful - but peace rarely lasts forever. Monsters are sighted on the edge of town. Fields of grain go barren with no explanation. Traders leave town to procure supplies, never to be heard from again.

The King's Guard is nowhere to be found. Have they forsaken the people? Why do they let these fearsome threats roam unchecked?

The people, desperate for aid, have nowhere to turn. Few remember a time before the King's Guard. Rumors tell of a Mercenary's Guild that was once home to powerful mages, fearsome warriors, clever rogues - all champions of battle who could be relied upon to accomplish any task - for a fee, of course. Long abandoned in an era of peace, the guild's fabled home now serves as a tavern for weary travelers. The old barkeep, always keen to share old stories and legends, recants tales of adventure and glorious battle to anyone willing to listen. Most think his stories are fables; yet another clever ruse to keep mead and coin flowing in the old place.

One morning, there was an unusual bustle of activity in the town square. A cryptic message, on what looked to be ancient parchment, had been posted prominently in the town square. The guild had returned, and was actively recruiting.
