Version 4.1B and Future Plans

Damaging property used to have no negative effect because I didn't give factions to wooden doors, crates, etc. If I had, smashing a crate would have had the same consequences as stabbing someone to death. Oops.

Now property destruction will only decrease respect by 5% instead of 20%, and I went around the story file giving factions to lots of doors and crates. This means you have to start a new story file for the doors, etc. to have factions. I also made it so that you will only lose respect if someone sees you (like stealing).

Finally, I made the little wall outside the Pochutla Market near Leon taller and moved the cooking fire away. You used to be able to jump over that and skip to Chapter 3.


FUTURE PLANS:

Version 4.2 won't be out for a while, but I plan to address the performance problems and the memory crash problems that some people are having. It might be due to Windows 10, not sure.

I'm gonna try to release Brigand: Panama by New Years. I've got half the maps finished, as well as lots of the new items, baddies, abilities, etc. You can use bamboo to make throwing spears, smoking pipes, and fishing rods. There are also flamethrowers, homing rockets, bear traps, prox mines, other traps, new herbs, clams, and more.

Unfortunately, I have only just started on the actual character scripts and dialogue.

Version 4.1

Finally, I have version 4.1 up, fixing lots of bugs/complaints reported by Tehsnakerer on his sweet Youtube channel:

Also thanks to 14pat and Gruppy for the bug reports. There are lots of important fixes, so I'll just give you the complete list:

SOURCE CODE:
-Dialogue close-ups no longer change player direction.
-Fixed a bug where ambient sounds would constantly restart.
-Increased climbing limit for polycollision objects, fixing problem with guard tower ramps in Pochutla.
-If sky image doesn't exist, black blank image is now used (fixing dark underground maps on low draw distance).
-Added new script command: "setMainPlayer" (to change the main character of the game).
-Fixed crash when loading a new custom story file.

SCRIPTS:
-Fixed bug with banana beer not leaving behind tin cans.
-Hounds are now removed from party in Chapter 2 to prevent repeated message bug.
-Fixed bug in which selling pearls got you UBNS respect even if you're working for Eleggua.
-Fixed bug where silencing a Crow 10mm increased ammo capacity.
-Laughing Coyote now says "Chaos is Restless" much less often.
-Rains Through Roof now surrenders after UBNS takes the city.
-Fixed a couple of bugs with missing sound files.
-Fixed final scores, making it one point harder.

RESOURCES:
-Added new ambient sound for when sewers are flooded: "ambFlood.wav".
-Added new ambient sound for inside oil platform: "ambMachine.wav".

STORY FILE: (requires starting a new game)
-Gave special name to the UB Elite who gives you the Scumlands job and removed his helmet.
-Made some stools in corners of houses normal (not passable) so they can be used as tables.
-Fixed bug that would get you stuck in river between Pochutla Market and South of Pochutla.
-Reworked some rocks in the Ancient Ruins so that player can't reach the wrong cave entrance.
-Made it impossible to jump the south wall of Pochutla, added some goodies for trying.

Brigand: Oaxaca is a highly difficult RPG/FPS set in post-apocalyptic Mexico. The story will take you from a banana plantation to dark toxic caverns, to the sprawling city of Pochutla, to the flooded coastline, to deadly demon-infested jungles, and more.

There are 14 unique skills to upgrade with skill points, ranging from agility to firearms, hacking, hardware, voodoo. Unlock up to 80 special abilities that allow you to do things such as throw your weapon, upgrade your guns, and control the weather.

Dangers include rival tribes fighting for fertile land, mutated ghouls that emerge from their caverns at night, vicious demons that hunger for your flesh, a flooded and irradiated coastline that eats away at civilization, disease, insanity, and hunger.

You will die often, and you will like it.
