Why Early Access?

“We believe that Early Access is a great way to incorporate community input and build community interest.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Development time will depend on numerous factors such as community requests and feedback, additions to the game, improvements on the engine, and many more. To give a rough estimate, it will be in development for another several months. We have high hopes and a lot of plans for the project. It's been under development for a long time already and we've made great progress during that time. We will continue to do so in order to build the best possible game that we can, and we'd like to involve the community as much as possible.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our goal is to create a great game that will provide hours of entertainment. As with our previous titles, we strive to deliver polished, bug free, and enjoyable gameplay experiences.

The finished build of the game will feature a full storyline, several maps, dozens of enemies, multiple different weapons, new items, more variety in graphics and areas, and an abundance of playtime.

The plan for patches and updates is to release regular updates that will solve issues, fix bugs, and add new features to the game. When we hear of a bug or problem, we'll do everything we can to fix it and deliver a patch as soon as possible. Players are asked to tell us of bugs or issues they're having on the Steam community forums.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of the game is still in the Alpha phase of development. We're still designing the levels, story, and many of the gameplay features. We have a roadmap which is available for viewing on the community hub to show our current plans, but we would like the players and the community to have a say about what we put into the game.

There are currently a few levels to play, multiple weapons to use, items to find, numerous different enemy types to fight, and a lot of room for further ideas and improvement.

There will be bugs and unfinished features in this version. There will also be instances where starting over from the beginning will be necessary. Please do not purchase the game at this time if you are not willing to deal with issues like listed above.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The plan is to have the price of the game directly reflect the amount of content and how polished it is. The price will not change often but it will change when it enters the last stages of development and upon release. During Early Access, the game will be priced much cheaper. This serves as a thank you to early purchasers for pledging their support and our way of putting a fair price on the amount of content received for the money paid.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will be focusing on interacting with the community over the Steam community forums. There, we can gather community feedback and discuss ideas to improve the game. We believe that the best games are created when those playing the game have a say about what is added or modified.”

5/11/18 Update 1.8 [BETA Release/Chapter 5]

The time has come! Affliction is now entering its BETA state of development! Almost all of the backend work is done and the systems are pretty much finalized! All that's left is to clean it up and polish it, and finish the map building and the storyline!

With the BETA release comes Chapter 5 - Relapse! This new chapter brings several new features to the game as well as loads of new content! New and updated shaders, complete audio overhaul, hit sound effects and bullet ricochets, improved stealth mechanics and improved AI detection, AI ammo counter so they need to reload too, randomized enemy reaction times, and much more! Bug Fixes:
-Fixed some special enemies still freezing
-Fixed some AI pathfinding issues
-Fixed some AI detection issues
-Fixed several bugs with entity materials
-Fixed a few floating objects

-Increased brightness globally

-Slightly modified the Tutorial
-Slightly reduced AKM firing speed
-Added new cutscene
-Updated all displayed text for interaction so it no longer says "Press E to..." and it will now just show "Pick up..."
-Improved stability tremendously
-Slightly reduced loading times even further

There may be some more small tweaks and changes here and there, but this is most of it.

ATTENTION

Affliction is currently in Early Access and will be for some time. Please only buy the game if you want to support us as a team and help us create a better game. There will be bugs, long loading times, crashes, progress resets, and other miscellaneous issues. We plan to solve all of these before final release to deliver a polished and fun experience but for now, some may not want to deal with this. The price is reduced until final release to compensate in the meantime, but it is recommended to wait to purchase this game if you don't want to deal with issues that may be currently present.

Set in the fictional Eastern European country of Ghulovka, amidst a terrible civil war, Affliction allows players to take on the role of Vasya, a patient plagued by nightmares and fractured memories, who awakes inside of a cell in a bizarre research facility where grim human experiments are taking place. With no memory of their reason for being there, players are forced to fight for their survival amidst a hellish catastrophe while frantically seeking answers to discover the truth behind their identity and unveil the mystery surrounding the horrific true purpose of the complex.

Venture into the Triglav Complex: an abandoned, cold war era, soviet military research base whose original purpose involved developmental weapons. Now, the derelict compound is operating once again with similar intent. A dreadfully dangerous and highly classified chemical weapon known only as Morana has been under design for years, but has become too difficult to control and containment has been breached. Affliction is a survival horror game designed to engage players with a thrilling storyline, surreal lore, sprawling environments, merciless foes, a chilling atmosphere, and an unforgettable gameplay experience. Players must explore, scavenge, and fight in order to survive and live to tell the tale.

Experience the terrifying possibilities of human experimentation, biological warfare, and chemical warfare from a first person perspective. The game features many different locations to explore including a disturbing research facility, a dark wilderness, a desolate city, and more. Exploration can be rewarding, but it can also be very unforgiving.

Adapt and use extreme caution with every choice made as there are also many different types of enemies who will bring a grisly demise to anyone foolish enough to underestimate them. Military death squads tasked to purge, ghastly mutants hunting to feed, and renegade anarchists attempting to resist are only some of the many hazards that await in this afflicted story.
