What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Developing a game with only a small team means, its quality and fun level solely depend on the imagination and skills of each team member. Through the involvement of players, we can share new content, directly receive feedback and even new ideas for future content, such as game modes, animals, maps and mechanics.
The Archotek Project has already been shaped by a few fans, who have been following us since beginning of development. They provided us with suggestions for new types of plants, animal species with special abilities, which could make the gameplay more interesting and many more ideas.
Through Early Access we can build up a larger community and also make The Archotek Project more appealing to a larger audience. More people means more ideas, but also more critique. Some elements of a game, such as mechanics, graphics and characters can sound and look great in concepts, but sometimes turn out to be too complicated or just not appealing enough to the player base.
Feedback from a larger group of players can make it easier for us to find a solution to these problems at a very early point of development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect to have most of our core game functionality several months after release with all the final content in by 14-18 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Archotek Project is planned to feature numerous game modes:

“Ecosystem”
Start with one of several dinosaurs and slowly build your own world.
Earn points while you play and unlock more fauna and flora to expand your little world.
Manipulate the genomes of your animals to improve their stats, change their appearance and behavior and create a blooming ecosystem.

“Sandbox”
You want instant access to all dinosaurs and plant life in the game and play without any limitations?
Sandbox is the right game mode for you!

“Be the Dinosaur”
Taking control over your animals is fun, but playing as them is even more fun! Scavenge for food and water, hunt other species or just hang out with other people.
You can play alone, in co-op with your friends or even on your own dedicated servers with new players!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Players can play as one of 9 species and roleplay with friends and new people or stick to the basics of PvP and get involved in deadly fights on dedicated servers.

In its current state, The Archotek Project features the foundations of ‘Sandbox’ mode with Archaeopteryx, Coelophysis, Deinonychus, Gallimimus, Psittacosaurus, Stegosaurus, Styracosaurus, Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus as playable species, and the following 3 maps:

Sanctuary
A massive map, which includes several tropical islands.

Green Valley
A small map for players, who don’t like exploring and just want to meet up with other people or have less powerful PC builds.

Aran Desert
A medium sized map, which represents a large desert surrounded by canyons and several oases.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game’s price will not change during Early Access, but it will increase once The Archotek Project is fully released and features all of it’s planned game modes and mechanics.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will be involved in the development process by submitting honest feedback on current content and new additions to the game and suggestions, such as suggestions for new species, cosmetics, items, maps and more, through our Steam group, Steam Community Forums and Facebook page. They can also engage with us directly through our Twitch streams and Discord server in form of text and voice chat.”
