Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is being updated chapter by chapter, with ever more physics and particles getting added. It's a big process, so I wanted to get players playing along the way as the whole thing grows and evolves.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I imagine it'll be about a year before the whole game has been posted.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The early versions will include the early Chapters of the game. Chapter 1 being about electric forces, with protons, electrons and photons. But there are more particles than that! I plan to release a couple dozen more chapters that add in more particles and more physics.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Chapter 1 is available with more than 32 levels and a level editor.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“At the moment, I'm planning on keeping the price the same as the game develops.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback is definitely welcome. As this game develops, I'll be looking to the community for help finding any issues with game difficulty, and in particular understandability - as in, this is a game about particle physics! I'm really trying to make the educational content clear, but the only real way to know is to put it out in front of people and see what might be confusing. And then with updates to the game, I can try to fix these issues of difficulty or clarity. I can most easily be reached in the TestTubeGames Discord server.”

About This Game

The Standard Model is complete
and fully operational.

Scientists found all the fundamental particles. Caught them. Measured them. Annihilated many.

Once you're trapped inside the Standard Model, there's no way out... until now.

The Game

Agent Higgs is back on the loose, and he needs your help. It's the world's smallest game of hide-and-seek, with the biggest stakes possible. Succeed and you free every single particle from the clutches of the scientists. Fail, and the scientists may be unleashed onto the world Beyond the Standard Model.

Think your way through a puzzle game of sliding particles, where the rules are written by the universe itself. Hide behind muons. Smash through crates with the electric force. Build up ever-larger nuclei. Break walls with antimatter annihilation. Finally figure out what the Weak Force is all about. And see how strong color confinement really is.

Is Higgs breaking the law? Yes.

But can he break the laws of physics? That's left as an exercise for the player.

The Science

This game is based on the physics of the Standard Model of Particle Physics. The forces, particles, and quantum interactions you see in the game are ones you're really find in the real world... within reason. (Can you really prove that the Higgs boson does *not* wear little glasses?)

  • Electromagnetism - particles will attract or repel based on their electric charge.

  • Nuclear Forces - stick nuclei together.

  • Antimatter - there will be explosions, and they will depend on the mass of particles.

  • Weak Force (Z) - particles can be pushed around the levels.

  • Weak Force (W) - some particles can decay or combine into others.

  • Strong Force - different color quarks attract together *strongly*.

  • Higgs Field - gives rise to the masses of many particles, and is everywhere and totally fine, nothing to worry about there.

The game will be released in Chapters to encompass fundamentally all of the Standard Model.

Chapter 1: Electricity is coming soon...
