What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We’re releasing The 8th Day in Early Access because we want to develop the game together with you, the Steam community, giving you access before it’s officially released. We’re in the early stages of development, and the game we’re putting out here is something that together with your input, we can build upon and enhance. We seek to create and foster a community from the ground up. Early access allows us to be in close contact with our community, providing us with a foundation to grow upon.

We are so excited about this project, we want to share our work with as many people as possible, as soon as possible. But not too soon. Not before we had completed the foundation of the game, which is what we’ve been doing in the past year. We’re now ready to go live. We believe that even in its current state, we have a compelling game experience.

We believe that we’ve got the core mechanic and we’re now ready to move forward and work on improving the performance, the AI, world building, extending the core concept, adding depth and replayability. What follows is a process that we’re now in, up to our elbows: we’re working on optimization, additional game mechanics, art style, music, sound, different game modes and character design.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The plan in place aims for 9 months of Early Access and a final release in April 2019. Our intention is to integrate as much community feedback as possible, Providing the best possible game. Early Access is perfect venue while We continue to add features and make changes to the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“There is no fixed direction that the game is taking. The game is evolving naturally based on feedback from those playing the game. Many devs make that mistake in promising you explicit things in or after Early Access, that might never come. After all, we want to convince you with progress, not hot air and broken promises.

Therefore, our Roadmap is more simplistic. For sure we will add more Levels, monsters, items, events, an over the top ending and want to polish and improve already existing content. Also, we will talk to you about parts of the game we should prioritize and we want to add some sweet content based on the wishes of the community. Sounds good? Good.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

““For now, we have developed a base game with the first half of all originally planned Levels and monsters. Also, there are already all basic features. Overall polish and quality can vary.
Also, most levels are not optimized well and could cause some frame drops. However overall the game is pretty stable.

And of course, bugs can happen. Since we are just One Man that can test the game we cannot find all the bug, we have to make more friends...”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access version price is below the final release price. We want to recognize that you help us developing this game to its full potential and trusting us at it's infant stage. I want the price to be reflective of the potential enjoyment a player can take from the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are planning to make full use of the Steam forums, Further communication will be on the game's Facebook page. Everyone can chat with developers or ask questions. surveys about specific topics are also part of our communication strategy. We are looking forward to hearing players’ feedback, primarily on the game’s performance, balancing, as well as the game-play and unique features. There could be different levels of involvement here, starting from bug reporting to participation in polls, forum discussions and more. In return, we will be keeping the players informed on our progress with the game and plans for the coming updates.”
