Why Early Access?

“Compared with the last Early Access, this time we have upgraded many features, including UI, unit balance, Commander Skills, etc. We still hope that community and players involve into game development to help us go further. We have had a specific plan for the release, and we are developing a game version for mobile devices. We won’t mark it as Full Version this time until players can battle against each on multiple platforms (e.g. PC, iOS, Android, etc.). Please notice that all your Open Beta progress this time will be saved.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Since we aim to make Art of War: Red Tides a multiplayer strategy game that allows different teams to battle against each other on multiple platforms, and all the players around the world can play the game on the same server, we won’t change the state until then.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our dev team will continue to upgrade the game based on the plan. The biggest difference between the Early Access and the Full Version is that the latter covers more platforms, including PC, iOS, Android, etc. Also, the game balance of the Full Version can be compared to that of the eSports game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access has been tested twice by a limited number of players. Compared with the last Open Beta, the stability and balance of the game have been improved a lot, and we have also optimized unit mechanism, A.I. and other aspects. We are sure that this time, player experience will be much better. On the other hand, however, we still need advice and opinions from community and players to make the game better.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. Art of War: Red Tides will adopt ‘free download + in-game purchase’ pattern. Even if the state is changed from Early Access to the Full Version, this pattern will not change, nor will the price of items in the store.
Besides, the in-game store will sell neither exclusive items that could influence the match, nor in-game currencies.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The optimization of a game always needs players’ participation and feedback. This is especially true for a multiplayer strategy game. We involved communities and players in two ways:
  • In the past half a year, our dev team improved the data-analyzing system which will automatically analyze player behavior to guarantee their basic game experience.
  • We will communicate with players actively. We will post on social platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to ask for players’ opinions and advice. We also plan to post helpful feedback in community and forums to ask for help.
We believe that these plans can make our game better.”

Server Maintenance: Bug Fixes

We will have a server maintenance to deploy bug fixes. The maintenance is expected to last 1 hour and will start at:

This update is focused primarily on fixing two problems:
* Level 2 Gorilla will explode itself after its buff is removed by Flare.
* Level 15 of the Command Academy cannot be passed.

Patch 0.7.28 Notes: One Year Anniversary, New Unit Skins, Balance Adjustment and More

1. Login Gift
Login and celebrate the 1st anniversary of Art of War: Red Tides with us! Claim different gifts every day!

1) Event Period
21:00 September 20 – 21:00 October 09 GMT

2) Rules
* During the event, go to “ANNIV” > “Login Gift” every day to claim EXP boosts, coin boosts, gems, skin pieces and more.
* Login on September 26 to claim an anniversary exclusive avatar.
* If commanders forget to claim gift the day/days before, they can claim them with gems or eternium ingots in chronological order.

2. Unit Skin Pieces
Complete the required events to piece together a legendary skin for the Dragon Breath!

1) Event Period
September 20 after patch – 21:00 October 09 GMT

2) How to Acquire
* Complete the required events to earn unit skin pieces.
* Filling 1 piece can earn 10 gems.
* Commanders can collect up to 16 pieces. Once the limit is reached, then each piece gained will be changed to 20 gems.

3) Unit Skin
* Collect all 16 pieces to unlock the Dragon Breath's new skin Gotchihr.

3. Anniversary Challenge

2) Description
All commanders destroy a total of 61,000,000 units.

3) Rewards
* When progress bar reaches 50% and 100% respectively, commanders can get a random reward by tapping the button “Claim”.
* Rewards for 50% progress: 200 gems, 1 warzone change, 1 rune page, 20 Hardened Skin runes, or 999 cupcakes.
* Rewards for 100% progress: 300 gems, 1 Terran formation slot, 1 Atlac formation slot, 1 Yaoguai formation slot, or 999 cupcakes.
* If a commander did not claim reward when his/her progress reached 50%, s/he can claim 2 times when his/her progress reaches 100%.

4. Cupcakes & Anniversary Store
Exchange abundant supplies with sweet cupcakes!

1) Cupcakes
* Cupcakes are available from September 20 after patch to 21:00 October 06 GMT.
* Competing in Ranked and Quick Play have large chances to earn cupcakes.
* Completing some daily events can earn a large amount of cupcakes.
* Please note that commanders will not be rewarded with cupcakes in Versus A.I. and Custom Game modes, or when they pass the Rested period.

2) Anniversary Store
* During the Anniversary Event, commanders can exchange exclusive avatars, runes and other items with cupcakes in the Anniversary Store.
* Previous exclusive avatars might come back to the Anniversary Store.
* The Anniversary Store will be closed on 21:00 October 09 GMT. After that, all remaining cupcakes will be locked away.

5. Galactic Bazaar
The Galactic Bazaar comes back!

* Commanders go to “Store” > “Galactic Bazaar” and click the button “Draw” on the right to get a random discount.
* Commanders then click the cards arranged to the left side of the button to reveal items, and purchase them at the drawn discount.

3) Items
* Items sold in the Galactic Bazaar include units, runes, EXP boosts, coin boosts, name change, warzone change, unit skins, skill skins and base skins.
* Commanders can reveal up to 15 cards, but are allowed to make 5 purchases only.
* Once the card is revealed, it cannot be refreshed.

6. Battle for More
Burn yourselves and loot more!

1) Coin Rush
* Event period: September 20 after patch - 21:00 September 25 GMT
* During the event, whether a commander passes the Rested Period or not, s/he can always gain 100% coins from each battle. Once the event ends, coins gained from battles will be reset to 0.
* Subscription, base skins and coin boosts still grant bonus coins.

2) More Supplies
* Event period: 21:00 September 25 - 21:00 October 04 GMT
* During the event, commanders gain double EXP and 1 loot chest after each battle.
* Subscription still grants 1 bonus loot chest.

1) Supply Drop
* Event period: 21:00 September 25 – 21:00 September 30 GMT
* During the event, there is a 25% off on all supply drops.

2) Commander Skill Skin
* Event period: 21:00 September 30 – 21:00 October 09 GMT
* During the event, there is a 50% off on all commander skill skins.

3) Eternium Ingots for Returns
* Event period: September 20 after patch – 21:00 September 22 GMT, 21:00 September 30 – 21:00 October 03 GMT
* During the event, purchasing eternium ingots grants some eternium ingots or cupcakes. Purchasing a certain amount grants unit skins.

The balance adjustment is based on tremendous match-up data. We’ve also analyzed the overall improvement according to players’ feedback. Balance adjustment is a long-term process, and sufficient amount of time is needed to make sure every adjustment is effective and reasonable. So please be patient and stay with us, our goal is to provide players with diverse strategies and better game experience.

Shadow Watch
Added a new ability Conceal: In the next 4s after the Shadow Watch throws the flash bomb, he won't be targeted by the enemies. But there’s a very short interval in between. At level 3, the Shadow Watch won't be targeted immediately after he throws the flash bomb.
Upgrade Adjustment
Lv1: Attack +10%. Won't be targeted for 6s after being activated.
Lv2: Attack +10%. Shoot deals true damage to enemies.
Lv3: No change.

The attack range of Shoot increased from 18 to 20.

Heavy Cruiser
HP increased from 240 to 280, armor increased from 12 to 15, and movement speed increased from 10 to 10.5.

Shadow Bat
Batling Swarm’s cooldown reduced from 3s to 2.6s.

Spiderling Attack’s cooldown reduced from 3s to 2.8s.

Aimed Shot’s attack range increased from 30 to 32.
Upgrade Adjustment
Lv1: Shoots 2 arrows at a time, dealing 150% damage in total.
Lv2: +30% attack speed.
Lv3: No change.

Rapid Shot’s attack range increased from 26 to 30. Rain of Arrows’ attack range increased from 32 to 35, and damage increased from 40 to 52. The Markscat won’t be hurt by any damage reflection.
Upgrade Adjustment
Lv1: Casts Rain of Arrows every 6s.
Lv2: Attack +30%.
Lv3: No change.

Added “buff” and “debuff” in unit, unit ability and unit upgrade description to clarify that these effects can be removed by commander skill Flare. Meanwhile, clarified the damage and other value in some unit ability and unit upgrade description.

2. Added chances of getting different items from each kind of supply drop.
3. Added Clan Name Change in Boosts & Others.

4. Fixed the problem that the level 19—Roaring Vanguard—in Command Academy couldn’t be passed.
5. Clarified the damage value that the Garuda deals with its ability Ascend to the Sky activated.
6. Fixed the bug that the level 2 Marauder was not immune to stun and petrify.
7. Fixed the problem that units would be interrupted occasionally when casting active abilities, e.g. the Shadow Watch.
8. Fixed the problem that multi-targeted units did not deal damage occasionally, e.g. Anti-Armor Interceptor.
9. Fixed the bug that Essence Recycler could only collect a small amount of soul essence within the green mist generated by the Dragon’s dead body.
10. Fixed the bug that the active ability of the level 2 Dragon Breath, the level 2 Blademaster and the Garuda would be removed by Flare.

About This Game

Game mechanics:
It is as simple as follows
  • Set troop: select a race, choose ten units under this race to set up your troop and then join the battle.
  • Send troop: you have 12 seconds to prepare during each wave, and you need to observe the battle, speculate enemy’s intention and then send appropriate types and number of units to the battlefield.
  • Destroy enemy turrets and base: continually overwhelm each enemy, unleash Commander Skills, cooperate with your teammates, pull down their three turrets one by one, and destroy their base.
Simple as the battle is, you will still experience various strategies and tactics in each battle.

Game features:
  • Emphasize teamwork in confronting the enemy
  • Support over 300 units that can fight smart in the fiery battle at the same time
  • Command concisely, play smart, and operate conveniently on different devices
