About This Game

The bus is coming. The road isn't open. A snowplough heads for the bus stop, where three villagers are waiting.

Plough is a cosy low-poly game about driving a snowplough through an Alpine village. It's snowing, it won't stop, and everyone needs their road.

Snow doesn't vanish. It moves. Seen from behind, the truck pushes snow that tumbles in chunks onto a bank beside the road.

Your blade doesn't remove anything. Snow curls off the end, builds into a bank and stays where you left it. Push it across Frau Huber's freshly shovelled driveway and she'll come out and tell you about it.

  • Angle the blade and the snow goes to one side, which may wall in a neighbour.

  • Lift the blade to spare a driveway, and leave snow on the road.

  • Go straight and push a growing heap to somewhere better.

A board full of jobs. Strips of the game's job pictures, from a storm and a night run to a Christmas tree on a trailer.

Pick a job at the depot. Each has its own goals, and pays for the ones you haven't met yet.

  • New to the job: Mira talks you through the truck one control at a time, with no clock.

  • Light snow, First snow, Storm and Night run: get the Postbus through at first light, at dusk, in a whiteout and with only your headlights.

  • Market day: clear eight plots between the lanterns on the Oberdorf green so the Christmas market can go up, and keep the bus running down in the village.

  • The tree: hitch the trailer, let Herr Rauch load the spruce he felled in his meadow, and bring it up to the green without a bump.

  • Into the woods: plough up the forest track, wait while a fallen spruce is sawn through, make the timber lorry room to turn and lead it down before dark.

  • Power cut: the village went dark at eleven. Find five switch boxes under the night's snow with Jonas riding along.

  • Lights on: thousands of coloured bulbs, five circuits, and Resi in the cab to plug each one in before the whole village walks down to the square.

  • Free plough: no job. Pick the time and the weather and just plough.

Eight machines. A rotary plough throws a plume of snow, with other ploughs parked behind it.

A salt plough, a rotary that throws snow fourteen metres, a jet blower, two V-ploughs, a wing plough, a tow plough and a sweeper. Each one puts the snow somewhere else. Up on the pass, only the rotary gets through.

A village that answers back. Frau Huber shouts "My driveway!" from behind a bank of snow.

Sixteen neighbours with names, faces and voices. Bury a driveway and the snow comes flying back. Children turn your heaps into sledging hills. The farm dog races you along his fence while Lini cheers him on, two cows at their stable doors follow you past and moo back at your horn, and if you stand still long enough a sparrow lands on your mirror. The washing on the line is frozen solid.

K-ALP 98.4 in the cab. Covers of songs from the game's radio station.

The valley's own radio station: a DJ, country songs written for the game, ads, news about how your last morning went, and villagers phoning in.

Every hour, every weather. One street cut into slices from night through dusk and midday to morning, with the truck in the middle.

Morning, midday, dusk and night, with street lamps that come on one by one, lit windows on the snow, lanterns that swing in a storm and a beacon you see before anything else. Past the village there's the Oberdorf, a forest and the pass, with a small ski resort at its end.

Built with our players. Villagers gather around a Christmas tree on a snowy village green.

We add new jobs every week, and many of them start as something a player asked for. Tell us which job you want next.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

We used generative AI to make some of Plough's content, then picked and edited every result ourselves. In the game: the music, the sound effects, the voice of Mira on the radio, and the pictures on the mission board. The concept paintings that guided the village, its people and the ploughs were also AI-generated, but the game's 3D world, characters and vehicles are built by hand, and the store page art is rendered in the game. Our devlog videos use an AI voice. Nothing is generated while you play.
