What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Dead Week is a long story game with full systems for combat and school life, written and built by one person. Act One is finished and playable from start to end, with about 15 hours of game time, and Act Two is already written. We use Early Access to write, voice and edit the rest one act at a time. We made sure your save carries over to every new act, so you can start right now!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to release a new act roughly every month, which means we expect Dead Week to stay in Early Access for four to six months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will cover the whole semester: about 150 in-game days, up to finals, and well over 50 hours of play!

We plan to add:
- the rest of the story, with new characters, new companions and more endings
- a new talent tree for Deb
- crafting and dungeon exploration, starting in Act Two
- alliances with the factions you meet in Act One
- New Game+ and a Hard Mode, once the story is complete

Most of the work, though, will go into polishing the game, its writing and its optional activities: from exams and hacking to tarot, and new ones such as a sports league!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“"Act One: Monsters and Coffee Runs" is complete: it includes the first 30 days at Marrowgate High and about 15 hours of play, with voiced characters, turn-based tactical fights, companions, skill and talent trees, optional activities such as tarot, hacking, and even first romances. Your save carries over to every new act. The save from the free demo carries over too.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to raise the price gradually as new acts come out. Buying now gets you every act as it ships, and the full game, at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We care a lot for the game, its characters, and how well you like them. Every message reaches the developer directly. Tell us what works and what doesn't in the Steam discussions, or at the support email on this page. In the game, press F2 to send us a note, or to vote when a question about the game is open. And if you would like to help translate Dead Week into your language, write to us and tell us which one! Please remember we are a person with a heart and a passion for this game: constructive feedback is what is most useful.”

About This Game

Dead Week

Deborah Walker is not quite your regular high schooler.

She sees monsters, demons and vampires.
She can fight them, too.
But she can't tell anyone.

Because who would believe her?

You are a Reaper. One of Seven.

Protect your secret and investigate the mystery of Marrowgate.
Pick your outfit for the day, and go make some friends.
Survive exams, gossip, even family dinners.

Then pick your weapon for the night: and meet new enemies.

Over 1,000 scenes and 500,000 words

Marrowgate is yours to explore in this story-driven, turn-based tactical RPG, with:
  • A campaign of 150 days full of choices and possible outcomes.

Early Access opens with "Act One: Monsters and Coffee Runs": the first 30 days, about 15 hours of play.

Act Two is coming very soon: taking the game to 75 days!

  • Entire arcs will become active depending on your decisions... good ones, or bad ones!
  • Over 1,300 scenes already written and many more to come in the full game.
  • More than 28 voiced characters with over 2,600 voice lines already recorded for Acts One and Two
  • Several possible romances.
  • Every day counts: under your direction, Deb can succeed or fail at almost anything, and the game goes on either way. Math exams or combat, training or social life, everything will influence your campaign.

Roleplaying stats and Progression

  • Create your Character. Customize all of Deborah Walker's starting attributes. Your choices will already shape the story and what she will be able to do.

  • Ascend your Skills. Max out a skill then ascend it into the version you prefer.

  • Choose your Companions. Customize their skills and unlock their prestige version. New companions can even be unlocked in later acts!

  • Talent trees. Deb can learn several talents, each with new skills and new passives, as a way to dual-class her.

  • Crafting. Crafting options are unlocked starting in Act Two, given by your chosen tutor and chosen attributes.

  • Meet other factions... and later decide to ally with one, or to fight them all!

  • Discover secret gameplay revealed by how you created Deborah this time.

  • Explore Dungeons. In the full game, besides story events, choices and tactical combat, Deb can also go dungeon crawling sometimes.

Use Divination Tarot with your Occult powers. Or hack computers with Science. Or just play video games. Or compete in a sports league! Discover new activities in every game!

And once the full game is out:

- NEW GAME+. Achievements from your first game unlock new content in the next one!
- HARD MODE. An upgraded version of the game unlocked once you have beaten it: with some new missions and creatures.

Taken together, all your small and big decisions will shape major changes and open the way to a decisive path.

The full game is estimated far above 50 hours of game time.

Note: this is our price during development. It will go up as acts are added.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

No content is generated during gameplay.

Visuals, voice lines, some SFX and scene drafts are made with generative tools, then reviewed for hours under the developer’s art direction and voice casting.

Music is made exclusively by human composers.

The story is built on a human-created lore, canon and novel. From there, the writing grows into two original versions, French and English. They can differ, because each language carries its own tone and context for me, the author. Sometimes the French scene is my original and allows me to be more poetic; sometimes the English one is. English is the more reviewed version. It is impossible for me to give you a rule about when I translated from one to the other and when I wrote a new original version. Some scenes still need a lot more work on tone, feeling and purpose before I would call them final. You will see this during Early Access, until the game is complete and my work is done.

Editing is the main reason for Early Access: more than 600,000 words are written in each language.

As an artist, I love writing and shaping Deborah Walker's story and I serve the vision that owns me. But if you want to know more, I also took the time to describe how current times are transforming our craft, a view still evolving, on our website.
