What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Sunken Choir is a big co-op game made by a small team, and it gets better with every crew that plays it. Early Access lets us shape the deeper chapters, the balance and the co-op experience together with players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect about 12 months. Updates arrive throughout, and we will say so openly if the plan changes.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version completes the story through the deep regions, with more puzzles, more creatures, further boat upgrades, better controller support and the Steam features (achievements, cloud saves, invites via the friends list).”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Fully playable from the first dive to the end of Act II: the surface base, three boat stages, the upper regions with their story, talents, cores, crafting, cooking and smelting, co-op for 1 to 8 players via online code or LAN. Text in six languages, voices in English with subtitles.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. The price stays the same during and after Early Access. Everyone who buys now gets every update and the full version at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam discussions and our Discord server, where we post patch notes, read bug reports and ask for feedback on new content before it ships. Many changes so far came straight from players.”

About This Game

A trial dive goes wrong. Something enormous passes in the dark, your boat hits the reef, and you wake up on the quay of a surface base with nothing but a wreck. Rebuild it together, room by room: first an emergency boat, then a work boat, and finally the MERIDIAN, a research submarine with an airlock, cargo hold, smelter, galley, generator, sonar, weapons station and bio room.

One of you steers, one listens to the sonar, one mans the guns, and whoever is left climbs out through the airlock. Every station on board is a real place where a crew member stands.

There are no loading screens between the reef and the deep. 13 regions lie in one continuous ocean, from sunlit coral at 140 metres down to the dark at 4,650 metres: blue grottoes, a ship graveyard, glowing vent fields, a sunken research station and far stranger places below. Leave the boat and swim into tunnels full of puzzles and dry ruins.

A research ship sends a distress call. A cave diver who vanished years ago left a trail of recordings. A station on the slope has been silent for two years, and the hydrophones keep picking up a signal that should not be there. Follow the song, find the logs of those who went down before you and listen to more than 800 voiced radio lines.

  • Mine and smelt: ore veins in the rock, bars from the smelter, drill heads that bite deeper.
  • Upgrade the boat: three boat stages, seven pressure hull tiers. Every new tier opens deeper water.
  • Craft and cook: workbench recipes and dishes that keep the crew going.
  • Grow your crew: 72 talents for diver and boat, learned in the bio room.
  • Socket cores: eight kinds of cores turn your harpoon and guns into something new.

The deep does not want you there. Predators hunt by light and sound, the pressure gnaws at the hull, the air runs out, and some doors in the wrecks were closed for a reason. Keep your lamp on, your harpoon loaded and your crew close.

Play alone or with up to 8 players in one crew. Friends join with an online code or over your local network, drop in and out at any time, and your progress waits in one of 30 save slots.

Sunken Choir is in Early Access. The story already runs through the opening and two acts; the deeper regions get their chapters in updates. Text in English, German, Turkish, Spanish, Italian and Polish; voices in English with subtitles.
