About This Software

Create your games with Faun Engine

Faun Engine is a free, lightweight engine for building 2D and 3D games with C#. Bring your scenes, assets, scripts, and gameplay together in a visual editor, then test and export your projects.

Whether you are experimenting with an idea or developing a larger project, Faun gives you a component-based workflow for turning individual objects into a playable game.

Build in 2D and 3D

Create sprite-based worlds or work with imported 3D models. Arrange objects in the Scene view, organize them in the Hierarchy, and adjust their components in the Inspector.

Use movement, rotation, and scale tools to shape your scenes, then switch to the Game view to see them through your game’s camera.

Write your gameplay in C#

Create custom behaviours and attach them to game objects. Expose script fields in the Inspector, connect object references, and build gameplay using input, timing, physics, and object creation APIs.

Faun’s component system keeps your scene setup and gameplay code connected throughout development.

Tools for your development workflow

  • Visual scene editing: Object hierarchies, transform tools, snapping, and Undo/Redo.

  • 2D tools: Sprites, tilemaps, sprite animation, and 2D physics.

  • 3D tools: Model importing, materials, lighting, shadows, and post-processing.

  • Animation: Work with sprite animations, imported model animations, and recorded transform properties.

  • Physics: Configure bodies and colliders, handle collisions, and query your game world.

  • Audio: Add music and sound effects, organize audio groups, and position sounds in 3D.

  • Play-mode testing: Play, pause, and step through gameplay inside the editor.

  • Diagnostics: Inspect console messages and performance information while developing.

  • Standalone exports: Build your projects into games that run outside the editor.

Free to create. Free to sell.

Faun Engine is free for personal and commercial use. There are no engine subscriptions, license fees, royalties, or revenue limits. You retain ownership of your original games, code, and assets, and you can publish and sell your games.

Faun Engine is proprietary, closed-source software. The engine’s source code is not included.
