About This Game

The One More Broadside logo over a sea battle: a pirate survival roguelite.

One More Broadside is a pirate survival roguelite at sea. You steer; every gun on your ship fires by itself. Start small, sink everything that comes at you, and grow into a warship bristling with cannons, rockets, lightning and stranger things. Then lose it all, spend your gold in port, and set sail for one more run.

Steer through the chaos

A war galleon steering through a crowd of enemy sloops on a bright, wind-whipped sea.

Weave through enemy fleets, swing your broadsides onto the crowd and outrun what you can't outgun. Every ship you sink drops gold and experience. The longer you survive, the thicker the sea gets: swarms, formations, fire ships and rival captains all want you on the bottom.

A ghost ship at level 90 inside a ring of green light, its weapons striking a whole fleet at once.

Level up, choose a card, evolve

A Keystone choice between three cards: Long Guns, Storm Sworn and Glass Cannon, each with a price.

Every level deals you a hand of upgrades: weapons, passives and keystones that change how a run plays. Rank a weapon up to its maximum, pair it with the right passive, and it evolves: Broadside Cannons become a Hellfire Broadside, Swivel Guns become Gatling Swivels.

A bigger ship every few levels

A red-sailed treasure flagship cutting through a swarm of galleys while whirlpools tear at them.

Every captain sails a line of six hulls. As you level, your ship changes underneath you, from a small boat to a heavy warship that can take far more punishment.

Twenty captains to recruit

The Choose Your Captain screen with twenty captains and a slot to make your own.

Each captain has their own traits, their own line of ships, their own song and a signature weapon nobody else can use, from Gráinne's Clan Galleys to Zheng Hai's Nine Dragons. Paint every ship in the Dry Dock and keep it in a bottle. Beat the game and make a captain of your own.

A man-of-war riding a tempest inside a ship in a bottle, lit by a lightning strike.

Seven seas, seven final bosses

A catamaran racing jet skis and patrol boats past a hotel island in the Neon Keys.

Sail from the Shallows to the Frozen North, the Bayou of the Drowned, the Dragon Sea and the Sunken Empire, then race a neon sunset in the Neon Keys and take to the skies above the Cloud Sea. Every sea has its own fleets, weather, rival captains and secrets, and a final boss waiting at the end: the Kraken, Jörmungandr, the Flying Dutchman, the Ember Colossus and more.

The Kraken rising from a whirlpool at night, its arms raised over a man-of-war.

Lose the ship, keep the progress

The Shipwright, where gold from every voyage buys permanent upgrades.

Bank your gold in port and spend it on permanent Shipwright upgrades. Unlock new captains, read the messages in bottles you fish out of the sea, hunt for every hidden secret, and when the sea gets easy, buy curses to make it harder for better pay. A sinking ends the voyage, but never your progress.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

One More Broadside was made by a solo developer with the help of AI tools. The recorded songs, including their singing voices, were generated with the AI music service Mureka from our own prompts and lyric sheets, and the lyrics were written with AI assistance. The 3D ships, sea creatures and props are built from code that was largely written by AI coding assistants under the developer's direction, and the sound effects and background themes are synthesised by code written the same way. Some in-game text was drafted with AI assistance and edited by hand. Everything was reviewed by the developer before it was put in the game. The game's icon, a kraken, was made with an AI image generator. Some store artwork, including the logo, was made with AI image generation. Honestly, I would not have made this game without the assistance of AI - this has been a fun project in what little free time I have had between my very full on day job and being a Dad.
