1 knight, 30,000 skeletons. Build a tiny kingdom by day: drop gold coins into houses, towers and traps. By night a river of bones pours through the gap. Ride into it with your lance, charge through hundreds at once and hold the keep until the sun burns the rest to dust.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Skull Siege is small but complete from start to finish: one island, five nights and a full run of about 15 to 25 minutes. We want players to shape the horde, the difficulty and the build choices while we make the rest of the game, instead of guessing alone.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to be in Early Access for about 6 to 12 months, depending on what players ask for.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add more islands, more kinds of dead including bosses, more hero weapons, more buildings and traps, more dawn picks, an Endless Night mode, music and more languages. Each addition has to earn its place in play, so the list may change.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable from start to finish: one island (Hearthmere) over five nights, up to 30,000 skeletons on the last night, seven kinds of dead, houses, fields, walls, towers that branch into Rapid or Heavy and then Blight Spire or Ricochet, the log-roller and the moat, the knight's Charge, First Light and a pick every dawn. A five-night run takes about 15 to 25 minutes. English only; no music yet.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price as major content arrives, so the Early Access price is planned to be the lowest. Everyone who buys during Early Access keeps the game and every update at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We read the Steam forums and reviews. Balance, difficulty and which content comes first will be shaped by what players tell us there, with updates and patch notes posted as Steam announcements.”

About This Game

1 knight. 30,000 skeletons. One night at a time.

By day, Skull Siege is calm. You ride a small knight around an island kingdom and drop gold coins into fixed build slots: houses, fields, towers, walls, a log-roller, a moat. Hold a button at a slot to pay. That's the whole build menu.

At dusk the dead rise from the grave fields. Night one brings two thousand rattling skeletons with ember eyes. Night five brings thirty thousand, pouring through the gap in the ridge toward your keep.

Hold the line

You don't command an army. You are the last rider. Your lance strikes on its own; you choose where to ride. Gallop to trample a furrow, then Charge and skewer a whole line of bones at once. Your towers rake the pile at the gap, the log-roller sweeps it and the moat slows it. Hold out until First Light, when the rising sun closes in on the keep and burns the stragglers to dust.

Features

  • A real horde. Over ten thousand skeletons on screen at once, moving as one crowd: they pile up at the gap, part around your horse and spill over the moat.
  • Be the knight. An auto-thrusting lance, a trample sprint, and a Charge that breaks hundreds of bones in two seconds.
  • Build simply. One currency and fixed slots. Towers branch into Rapid or Heavy, then into Blight Spire or Ricochet.
  • Blight Spire. A green bolt infects the thickest part of the crowd. The infected turn back, spread it, and burst.
  • A choice every dawn. A perk, a one-night blessing, or a risky deal: double gold for a double horde.
  • Seven kinds of dead. Rattlers flood the keep, Skullrunners rush it, Bonewings fly over the walls at your towers and houses, Bone Brutes smash towers, Bone Knights shrug off your lance, Bannermen hurry the crowd and Bone Catapults shell you from afar.
  • Starts at the peak. Your first launch drops you into the last night of a finished kingdom, two seconds after you press Play.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

No AI-generated art, audio, music or voice in the game. Every sound is a real human recording. The game's code, including the code that builds its simple 3D shapes procedurally, was written with an AI coding assistant under the developer's direction. Store artwork (capsules, key art) was created with an AI image generator from our in-game screenshots and edited by us. Nothing is generated by AI while you play.
