What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“SonaCraft already has a complete first stage: three instruments (trumpet, classical guitar, snare drum), 24 repair jobs in two chapters, a learning mode, a sandbox and a weekly challenge. We want players, teachers and instrument makers to play it now and tell us where the repairs, the controls and the balance need work, while we build the next instruments.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“More instruments (recorder, violin, electric guitar, drum kit and more), a second and third workshop stage, more repair types per instrument, story chapters with the great-aunt's notebooks, final music, and repair steps reviewed by professional instrument makers.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Chapters 1 and 2 are playable from start to finish with mouse, touch, gamepad and TV remote in 22 languages. The repair steps follow the trade literature but have not yet been reviewed by an instrument maker; the music is placeholder.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will rise when version 1.0 is released. Everyone who buys during Early Access gets all updates up to 1.0.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam discussions and open playtests: which instruments come next, which repairs feel wrong, where the controls get in the way. Feedback from instrument makers goes straight into the repair steps.”

About This Game

Repair instruments the way a workshop does

A customer brings in a trumpet whose third valve sticks, a school guitar with dead strings, a snare drum with a worn-out head. You listen, look and measure until you find the fault. Then you take the instrument apart in the right order, clean, oil and replace parts, set it up and play it in the sound test. Only when it sounds right does it go back to its owner.

Learn the real craft

Every job teaches a real repair step with real tools and the words a repair shop uses: valve oil and slide grease, felts and water key corks, nut files and truss rod, drum key, bearing edge and snare wires. The wrong order or the wrong tool has believable consequences – a dented cap, a stripped thread, a customer who comes back. Mistakes cost time and reputation, but they never end the game.

A workshop of your own

You inherit M. Sander's workshop in a small town. Take on jobs, buy spare parts, grow from a cellar room into a shop workshop, earn skill points and pass the journeyman's exam. Chapter by chapter you find her notebooks, which explain the craft in her own words.

  • Trumpet, classical guitar and snare drum – 24 jobs in two chapters
  • Diagnosis by ear and with tuner, straightedge and endoscope
  • Hands-on mini-games: tune strings and heads, pull a stuck slide, set the snare tension
  • Learning mode with guided steps and exploded view, sandbox, and a weekly challenge with blind diagnosis by sound
  • Mouse, touch, gamepad and TV remote · 22 languages

Early Access

Chapters 1 and 2 are playable. More instruments are planned, among them recorder, violin and electric guitar. The repair steps follow trade literature but have not yet been reviewed by a professional instrument maker – that review happens during Early Access.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

The English and German texts of the game and of this store page were written with the help of an AI language model and reviewed by the developer. The other 20 languages were translated with AI and checked against the English by a second AI pass. The placeholder music in Early Access was composed note by note with AI assistance and will be replaced by the developer's own music. The 3D models are built by scripts, the screenshots and the trailer show the real game, and the sound effects come from free libraries and the developer's own synthesis. The game does not generate anything with AI while you play.
