Why Early Access?

“Dungeon Stage is a solo tabletop-style RPG with an AI dungeon master, made by one developer. Early Access lets players help shape which classes, spells and adventures come next, and helps tune the AI narration and combat across many different PCs and play styles.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About six months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to include all the core classes from the SRD 5.1 rules and character advancement all the way to level 20, with the class features and spells that go with them. We also plan to add more locations, merchants and adventure variety, and to keep improving the AI narration and tactical combat based on player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable, from character creation through AI-narrated adventures and turn-based tactical battles. Five classes are available: Fighter, Paladin, Rogue, Sorcerer and Wizard. Leveling is still limited: Fighters can reach level 2, and other characters keep the experience they earn until their level-ups are added. AI narration runs on a local model after a one-time download, or on an optional external AI service using your own API key.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We're not planning to change the price when the game leaves Early Access. Everyone who buys during Early Access gets the full version at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam Community Hub discussions and bug reports, plus regular updates with patch notes. Player feedback will guide which classes and features come first and how the AI narration and combat are tuned.”

Play DND in Dungeon Stage

Dungeon Stage is a single-player, tabletop-style roleplaying game that pairs an AI dungeon master with illustrated scenes and turn-based tactical combat. Create a character, shape a world, and type what you want to say or do. The dungeon master narrates the journey while the game handles dice, combat rules, equipment, and character state.

Play a role, not just a dialogue option

Give your hero a class, appearance, personality, and backstory. Speak to the people you meet, investigate your surroundings, and decide how to approach the next challenge. AI-generated narration and character dialogue respond to your input as the adventure unfolds.

Take your adventure into battle

When conversation gives way to combat, choose your movement, attacks, spells, and abilities on tactical maps. Manage your equipment and resources, roll ability checks, and decide when to press on or rest.

Build a cast of companions

Meet characters along the way and invite willing companions to travel with you. Illustrated portraits, scenery, a character sheet, inventory, and quest log bring the campaign together on a fantasy playhouse stage. Save your adventure and return to it later.

Choose how your dungeon master runs

Use local AI on your PC or connect a supported external AI service. Local play requires a one-time model download and compatible hardware; once installed, local text generation can run offline without an AI account or subscription. Response speed and quality depend on your hardware and chosen model.

External AI services require your own account and credentials, an internet connection, and may charge usage fees. Optional AI-generated voices also require a supported voice service and may incur additional costs. AI-generated narration can be unpredictable and may make mistakes.

The Steam version uses bundled or imported artwork; in-game AI image generation is unavailable.

During play, AI generates adventure narration, dialogue and story details in response to your choices. You can run a local model after a one-time download or configure an optional external AI provider. Optional AI speech reads character dialogue aloud. External services require your own account or credentials and may charge separately. Dungeon Stage uses AI-created visual assets, including character and scene artwork and promotional images. Live image generation is disabled in the Steam version.
