About This Game

You gave your word to the dead. Below the broken cemetery gates the graves will not stay quiet, and something older burns beneath the mountain. Take up the vow, knight, and carry it down.

FIGHT LIKE YOU MEAN IT

Combo, charged slam, dash, roll, wall jump. Roll through an attack for a perfect dodge and time slows. Parry just as a hit lands and the boss staggers. Your next strike is a RIPOSTE for double damage. Land enough parries and slams to fill three marks and the guard breaks wide open. Knock foes into pits. Chain kills for a style rank from D up to SS.

SWEAR YOUR VOWS

Between levels you walk THE ROUTE and swear one vow. A BOON is straight power. A GAMBLE is great power at a real price, printed on the card in red. Some vows pair up and grow stronger together. Your vows last until the run ends, and every run deals a different hand.

A BOSS GUARDS EVERY SECOND DEPTH

GROTHMAW the Grave-Ogre. VARGHAST the Plague-Warlock. HRIMGAR the Frostbound. VESSARYX the Cinder Drake. And more down the old path. Each one telegraphs its attacks, punishes greed and leaves an opening if you are patient. When one beats you, it tells you how close you came.

THE ROAD DIVIDES

Clear a run and the route forks before depths 6, 8 and 10. Keep to the road ahead, or take the old path through THE CATACOMBS, THE SHATTERED NAVE and THE OSSUARY.

PLAY IT YOUR WAY

  • Start on NORMAL. Beat the game once to unlock HARDCORE, INSANE and NO VOW MODE.

  • Assist mode, full rebinding, and options for screen shake, flashes, motion, hit-stop and large text.

  • Full controller support with Xbox, PlayStation and Switch button pictures.

MADE BY TWO DADS

IRONVOW is made by DadLevelGames, two dads making games after the kids are in bed. Every sprite and sound is human-made: licensed pixel art and audio from artists credited in the game.

Photosensitivity: the game has screen flashes on big hits and boss moments. You can turn them off in Settings.
