About This Demo

Conquer the world, one fry at a time

Greaselord is a satirical strategy game: you build the biggest fast food empire in the world and spread across land, sea and air. But the bigger you get, the faster the health authorities move in with a worldwide fast food ban, and three rival chains want to take your countries away from you. Conquer 80% of the world market before one of them stops you.

Found your chain

Give your chain a name and a logo, pick one of 14 main dishes – from burgers, pizza and hot dogs to fried chicken, tacos, wok noodles and donuts – and your headquarters in one of 169 countries and territories. Each dish appeals to different customers and is popular in different regions. Neighbors, local tastes and the world situation of the round determine how fast you grow.

Pick your focus

Budget draws the masses, but cheap fat and sugar set the health authorities on your neck. Premium earns more from fewer customers, but makes enemies of the big chains. Fast Expansion grows everywhere at once through franchise partners, but they keep most of the money abroad. Every focus has its own opponent.

Features

  • Spread by land, sea and air: Once your market share in a country is high enough, its neighbors open up. Logistics upgrades unlock new markets sooner.

  • Eight population groups: teens, seniors, commuters, families, night owls, students, foodies and bargain hunters. A country only grows as far as your menu serves its people.

  • Menu tree with choices: Unlock sauces, sides and addictive extras. Some entries are mutually exclusive. Addiction boosts growth and revenue, but speeds up the health ban.

  • Secret Sauce and Black Budget: Click the burger bubbles above your countries before they disappear and use them to pay for your menu and for Government, Security and Sabotage upgrades. Surplus money flows into the Black Budget: Expansion Blitz, advertising, buyouts of local food joints, bribery.

  • Fend off three rivals: Shoot down their cargo planes, sink their ships, collect the loot and click their logo in time when they try to take over one of your countries. Lost a country? Win it back.

  • Outwit the health ban: Inspectors announce their visits, local bans hit individual foods, and from 60% market share the world fights back. Lobbyists, bribes and health weeks slow the ban down. At 100% the round is lost.

  • A different world every round: A burger fever in Asia, a sugar tax in Europe: every round starts with its own world situation, and trends change tastes, growth and costs. A news ticker with hundreds of headlines comments on your rise.

  • Rewards: Every round played to the end pays into your Rewards account. Spend it on purely cosmetic skins: ships, planes, loot, routes and shot effects.

Victory or defeat

Reach 80% of the world market to win. You lose if the health ban reaches 100%, the rival chains conquer the world before you do, you stay in debt for a whole year, or rivals push you out of your headquarters. You can pause or speed up the game at any time.

Notes

Greaselord is a satire: the chains, their logos and the headlines are fictional. The world map, country borders and country data reflect the state of 2019, when development began. They are not updated and are not a political statement.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

No AI is used to generate content or code while the game is running, and the game does not connect to any AI service. Sound effects and music are synthesized by the game itself and are not AI-generated.
The game development started around 2019/2025, my official Initial commit on Github was on Jun 7, 2023, means most work has been done without knowing AI.

AI Usage:
AI has been used as mathematician and bughunter - which you really need as one (wo or man) studio - and to generate some small graphics such as achievements. 90% of work has been done by me over the years, I decided now to finish this game after doing it as side project for many years. AI helped me to handle the complexity the data by simulating the game play 100 of times, which would be not possible as single developer having a life outside of the cave. One last: Majority of the shop and ingame translations have been done by AI.
