What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Dungeons & Runestones already contains a playable core experience including character creation, party management, turn-based combat, exploration, and the introductory Goblin Troubles campaign.

Early Access allows us to begin building a community around the game while continuing to expand the world, add new adventures, improve existing systems, and refine the overall experience through player feedback.

The foundation of Dungeons & Runestones is in place, but the long-term vision includes additional campaigns, world regions, progression systems, content updates, and quality-of-life improvements. By launching in Early Access, players can help shape that development while enjoying and providing feedback on the systems already available.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently anticipate Dungeons & Runestones remaining in Early Access for approximately 1-2 years. Development timelines may change based on community feedback, feature scope, and the pace of content expansion.

Our goal during Early Access is to continue expanding the game with new adventures, progression systems, world content, quality-of-life improvements, and additional multiplayer functionality while refining existing systems based on player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version focuses on the core Dungeons & Runestones experience, including character creation, party management, exploration, turn-based combat, Stonebrook, and the Goblin Troubles campaign.

During Early Access, we plan to expand the game with additional adventures, regions, progression systems, character options, equipment, crafting features, multiplayer improvements, and quality-of-life updates.

We also plan to continue growing the game's world through new handcrafted campaigns, additional content for existing systems, and further development of the built-in Dungeon Master experience.

Our goal is for the full version to offer a larger world, more adventures, deeper progression, and a broader range of gameplay opportunities than the initial Early Access release.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Dungeons & Runestones is currently playable and includes character creation, party management, exploration, turn-based combat, inventory and equipment systems, custom hero portraits, multiplayer table-session foundations, and the Stonebrook town hub.

The Early Access version includes the complete Goblin Troubles adventure path, featuring story-driven exploration, skill checks, branching choices, companion interactions, tactical combat encounters, loot, character progression, and a built-in Dungeon Master who guides the adventure.

Players can create their own heroes, build a custom party, explore handcrafted adventures, and experience the core gameplay systems that define Dungeons & Runestones.

Some planned features and content are still in development. During Early Access, players may encounter incomplete systems, ongoing balancing adjustments, placeholder elements, and features that will continue to expand over time.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not currently plan to increase the price between Early Access and full release.
We may consider future price increases only if substantial new content and features are added beyond that scope.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to actively involve the community throughout Early Access by listening to player feedback, monitoring discussions, reviewing bug reports, and gathering suggestions through Steam community channels.

Player feedback will help us prioritize improvements, balance gameplay systems, identify usability issues, and guide future content development.

As Dungeons & Runestones grows, we intend to share development progress, discuss upcoming changes, and communicate plans for future updates whenever possible.

Community feedback has already helped shape development, and we expect player experiences and suggestions to continue influencing the game's direction throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

Create Heroes. Gather a Party. Begin an Adventure.

Dungeons & Runestones is a turn-based digital tabletop RPG featuring a built-in Dungeon Master who guides your party through handcrafted adventures, tactical combat, and meaningful choices.

Create your own heroes, build a party from your custom characters, or invite friends to join your journey. Travel from the town of Stonebrook into dangerous wilderness, uncover secrets, rescue prisoners, battle monsters, and shape the outcome of each adventure through your decisions.

Every campaign is presented by a narrator who reacts to your progress, explains the world around you, and delivers a tabletop-inspired experience without requiring a human Dungeon Master.

A Built-In Dungeon Master

Narrators guide your adventures through:

  • Story-driven exploration

  • Branching choices

  • Dynamic skill checks

  • Tactical encounters

  • Campaign progression

Instead of simply moving from quest marker to quest marker, you'll investigate locations, solve problems, discover hidden opportunities, and decide how your party approaches each challenge.

Create Your Heroes

Build heroes from multiple races and classes.

Customize:

  • Name

  • Race

  • Class

  • Background

  • Alignment

  • Abilities

  • Portrait

Create an entire party yourself or combine heroes with friends in multiplayer table sessions.

Tactical Turn-Based Combat

Defeat goblins, monsters, bandits, beasts, and powerful bosses in tactical turn-based encounters.

  • Class abilities

  • Spells

  • Companions

  • Equipment upgrades

  • Resource management

  • Boss battles

Every decision matters, and victory comes through strategy rather than fast reflexes.

Your Adventure, Your Pace

Dungeons & Runestones is designed around thoughtful decision-making.

  • No reaction-time requirements

  • Save your progress and continue later

  • Explore at your own pace

  • Single-player and multiplayer support

  • Handcrafted adventures

Take your time, consider your options, and let the adventure unfold.

Early Access

The initial Early Access release focuses on:

  • Stonebrook, the central town hub

  • Character creation

  • Turn-based combat

  • The Goblin Troubles campaign

  • Multiplayer table-session foundations

  • Ongoing content and system updates

Additional adventures, classes, progression features, and world content are planned throughout development.
