About This Game

You wake in a cell on a cold northern island. A guard captain wants to know who you are. Nobody knows how outsiders arrive. Wildhearth is an online world of lakes, forests and snowy peaks, and other players share it with you. It keeps running while you are away. What will you make of your new life?

How you live here is up to you. Will you hunt world bosses with a party, or fish the misty lakes alone? Run a shop in Hearthvik, or live on the road in a tent. Wildhearth is an RPG, a house builder, a farm and a shop in one. Townsfolk keep their own days around you. They work, meet at the inn and walk home together at night. What kind of life will you build?

After the opening, the town gives you a wife to guide you. Pick her kind, from wolf and fox to snow leopard, hyena and dragon. Then shape her with sliders. She fights at your side and trains her own skills. At a tree, a rock or an anvil, she works beside you. Make a bed your home, and she cooks and keeps house there. You meet as strangers, and your bond grows step by step, from a wave to a kiss. The romance stays gentle: hugs, kisses and cuddles.

The island's lands reach from the home fields of Hearthvale to the snows of the Northern Winds. Walk under the giant firs of the Wyrmwood, where trolls guard their hoards in caves. Ride the Marches, the old kingdom's last war front, past its broken forts. Deep in the Crownlands lies the dead capital, its houses as their people left them. Dozens of named places hide off the roads. Old barrows hold crypts where the dead wake. Weather rolls in from the west, and the north is cold. Wear furs, or stay near a fire.

Every skill rises as you use it. There are no points to spend. Will you work the land with Farming and Cooking? Or forge your own gear with Mining and Smithing? Others wait too, from Forestry and Fishing to Runecarving and Riding. Runecarvers cut spell stones at rune altars and bind several runes into one. Your combat and armour skills grow as you fight. Master a craft, and its trade guild opens its hall to you.

Fight in third person with swords, axes, spears, bows, staffs, crossbows, guns and more. Foes wind up before they strike. Step back, or raise your guard in time to parry. Every kind of foe has its own weak points, and each armour stands up to different blows. Will you hold the front with sword and shield? Or cast from the back with a staff? In the caves of Vevmor's Deep, a spider queen waits for a party to try her.

World bosses wait in lairs across the island, from the home fields to the far north. Their blows show on the ground before they land. Each one drops its own armour set. Great beasts roam the wilds too, from Ironhide the boar to Grimpaw the bear. Which will you bring down first?

Build a house piece by piece with a builder's hammer. Foundations step down any slope. Roof it in shingle, thatch, turf, clay tile or slate, and lock its doors to the people you choose. Till farm beds and breed new seed strains, with hens and bees beside them. Rent a stall or a whole shop in town and set your own prices. Your wife minds the counter while you are away.

Wildhearth is free to play. Every region, skill, task and boss is open to everyone, and so is your wife. An optional supporter subscription keeps the servers running. In return it gives comforts and looks. None of it makes a character stronger.

  • 400 bank slots instead of 200, and 10 bank tabs instead of 3.

  • Free barber visits and new names, for you and your wife.

  • Up to five characters instead of one.

  • Your own walk style, tabard and kite shield designs, and your guild's banner as a cape.

  • No weekly upkeep on your land.

  • A small star on your name plate, and your shop's mark on the map.

Hundreds of players share the island at once. Form a party for a boss, or found a guild with its own banner. Trade face to face, or through stalls and shops. Townsfolk remember each player by name. Duels happen only when both players agree. Join us on the Fenris Labs Discord. Tell us what to build next, and read the notes for every update.
