What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Holdopolis is built around connected systems: city growth, queues, supplies and a single toilet that everyone depends on. Early Access lets us develop these systems with player feedback. We want to learn which decisions are most interesting, where the tools need to be clearer, and how the balance holds up as the city grows.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the game to remain in Early Access for approximately 4–6 months after its Early Access launch. During this time, we plan to expand the content, refine city and queue management, improve balance, and incorporate player feedback. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the existing building and management options, city events and scenario challenges. We also intend to improve the interface, tutorial, balance, performance and overall presentation. The priorities and scope may change as development progresses and we learn from player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build includes single-player city building with roads, homes, workplaces and services. You can draw queue routes, place railings, benches and canopies, upgrade the toilet, manage supplies, handle blockages and repairs, and arrange waste collection. Research, political parties, elections and city events are implemented. There are six scenario challenges, sandbox play, manual saves and autosaves. The game is still in development, and bugs, balance issues and unfinished elements may be present.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to increase the price for the full release to reflect the additional content and improvements developed during Early Access. We intend to announce pricing changes in advance through Steam news.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use Steam Community discussions to collect feedback, bug reports and suggestions. Player feedback will help us decide which systems need more attention, improve the interface and adjust the balance. We also plan to share development news and update notes through Steam so players can follow the changes.”

About This Game

One toilet. An entire city. Everybody needs to go.

Welcome to a city with one toilet. Not one per district. One for everyone. The population is growing, the queue is getting longer, and you’re the person expected to make it work.

Build an isometric city of homes, workplaces and roads. Earn more as your city grows, but remember: every new resident is also another potential customer at the only door that matters.

Build the city. Then manage the queue.

Place buildings, connect districts and plan how people reach the toilet. Draw the queue's route yourself, add barriers, benches and shelters, and keep sanitation trucks moving through the streets.

A new neighbourhood means new income. It also means more people turning up at exactly the wrong moment. Morning and evening rush hours won't organize themselves.

Paper in. Waste out. Please don’t let it clog.

Every visit uses toilet paper and fills the waste tank. Set up production and deliveries of paper, spare parts, chemicals and medicine. Upgrade the toilet, schedule waste collection and keep the streets clean.

Pipes get blocked. Vehicles break down. Neglected neighbourhoods get filthy, and disease can spread. When several things fail at once, the queue will let you know how unhappy it is.

The residents have lives. And complaints.

Workers, office staff, children, retirees and tourists have different needs and budgets. They work, grow older and move around. If you expand faster than you build housing, newcomers may end up in a tent camp.

Frustration can turn into strikes. Negotiate with workers, respond to city events and decide which demands you can actually afford. The local newspaper won't miss a chance to comment on your decisions.

Even elections can’t shorten the line.

Research new sanitation, engineering and logistics technologies. Balance investment, public trust and political pressure as parties compete for influence and elections reshape the city.

Build freely in sandbox mode or take on scenarios with specific goals. Save manually or rely on autosave, then return to whatever disaster was waiting outside the door.

What you’ll manage

  • An isometric city with homes, businesses, roads and public services.

  • Hand-drawn queue routes with barriers, benches and shelters.

  • Toilet paper, waste collection, maintenance and sanitation logistics.

  • A changing population, housing shortages, strikes and city events.

  • Research, political parties, elections and public trust.

  • Sandbox and scenario modes, with manual saves and autosaves.

One toilet. A whole city. And somehow, it’s all your problem.
