Informace o hře

Your whole run is one weapon. Craft it by chance, watch the number roll up, and break every boss at the bottom of the mine.

A sword lies on an anvil with one line and three empty slots. Each fight you draw a hand of crafting orbs and throw them at it. A Spark adds a line. A Tumble rerolls every line you have not clamped. A Hone raises one line a tier. A Hex takes a risk on the whole weapon, with its odds printed on it. When the number is big enough you Strike: it rolls up line by line and charm by charm, and the crystal shatters.

One weapon, four lines

Every line has an element (Fire, Frost, Storm or Venom) and a tier from 1 to 5, worth +5 to +80 Might. A tier 5 line can go on to earn up to 5 stars, each worth +2 Fury.
  • Your lines make Sets: Pair and Trio for a shared element, Ladder for tiers in a row, Rainbow for all four elements, Crown for four tier 5 lines, and Mythic at the top
  • There are 10 Sets, each with its own Might and Fury, and the Sets list shows them all at any time
  • Before you Strike, the plates show what your Set adds; the roll-up adds your weapon, lines and charms
  • Your Hit is Might x Fury, and you get three Strikes to break each target

Odds you can read

Every orb that rolls prints its odds. An orb with no odds does exactly what it says and is used up. Clamp lines to keep them through a Tumble. Coals on the anvil light up when a roll lands low, and four lit coals promise a better roll. Every roll comes from the run's seed, and a typed seed deals the same mine for everyone.

A mine of 8 Depths

A run is 8 Depths of a mine. Each Depth is one map you see whole: pick your path down past fights, Foremen that fight harder and offer a charm, Ore Veins with a free orb, the Smelter that works one line for free, events with every choice printed, and Tinsel's Stall. The boss waits at the bottom.

Bosses that show their move

15 cute bosses fight back, and each one shows the move it makes on your next Strike: a line dropped a tier, a line Cracked, an element silenced, an orb taken, armour on a Strike.
  • One Strike takes at most half a boss's HP, so every duel lasts two Strikes or more and you always meet its second move
  • A clamped line is safe from every move, except while the Grumble Golem's Rock Fist stands
  • Seven bosses have a part, an iron cap on their crystal: break it and its rule ends, and it pays 2 coins
  • Broken bosses sit down dizzy

The forge cools

After each boss you take 1 of 3 Hallmarks. Then the forge cools: every line drops back to tier 1, keeping its element and stars, and Reforges and finishes are gone. A Cracked line stays Cracked. Charms and Hallmarks carry the run, so every Depth is a rebuild. A winning run takes about 45 minutes at normal speed, and the game plays at 2x and 4x when you want it faster.

A stall on the map

Tinsel the magpie sells orbs, 51 charms that bend the rules, Hallmarks that level up your Sets, Pommel Loops for more charm slots, and Reforges that grow the weapon along three paths until the forge cools. Ring the bell for new stock or melt an orb you no longer want. At the last stall of a Depth she tells you how to beat the boss below.

Five weapons, 8 Heat levels each

  • The Sword, Bow, Staff, Axe and Hammer each start with their own pouch and their own three Reforge capstones
  • The Bow has four Strikes, the Staff draws a bigger hand, the Axe has three lines and the Hammer's Tumbles never lower a tier
  • Win with a weapon to raise its Heat: 8 levels, each adding one rule to the ones below it
  • 26 unlocks add weapons, orbs and charms to the pool and never add power

A daily seed and Endless

The Daily Anvil gives everyone the same mine, weapon, Heat and seed each day. Your first attempt counts on the leaderboard, and a plain share line copies your result. Break the Depth 8 boss and keep going into Endless. Type any seed for a seeded run, with only what is open from the start.

The Smithy Wall

Every orb, charm, boss and Set you have met, with its exact rule, and each boss's moves in order. Your best Hit with each weapon, your wins at each Heat and your last 50 runs with their seeds. Save any finished weapon as a Weapon Card picture.

Steam Cloud saves with local backups, 30 achievements, leaderboards for the Daily Anvil, the best Hit and Endless, controller support, text size from 85% to 160%, four colour vision palettes that recolour the pixel art too, three contrast levels, reduced motion, quiet roll-ups, a plain lettering option and an optional projected Hit.
