What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“With NO SUNRISE, we want to create a zombie survival experience that goes far beyond simply surviving individual waves of enemies. The core gameplay is already playable and offers exciting challenges for both solo players and groups of up to eight players.

Lichtpalast is just the beginning of your survival story. After fighting through the zombie waves and refueling your getaway vehicle, your journey takes you to a larger city. There, you can clear areas of zombies, establish your own base, and prepare for further challenges and instanced areas.

This city and the content that follows it are still in active development. Throughout Early Access, we want to gradually expand the game world, add new content, and improve existing mechanics.

Working with the community is especially important to us. Your experiences, ideas, and feedback help us further develop the game balance, enemy behavior, weapons, defensive options, and online co-op.

Our goal is to build NO SUNRISE into a more extensive zombie survival game together with its players, where every challenge you overcome opens the way to new areas and opportunities.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Based on our current plans, we expect NO SUNRISE to remain in Early Access for one to two years.

During this time, we want to gradually expand the game world, further develop the existing city, add more areas and instanced content, and introduce new enemies, weapons, and gameplay mechanics.

Another focus is improving performance, game balance, and stability in online co-op with up to eight players.

The one-to-two-year timeframe is an estimate, not a fixed release date. The actual duration depends on development progress and community feedback. Our goal is to release a full version with substantial content, varied gameplay, and a high level of technical polish.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of NO SUNRISE is intended to offer a significantly larger, more varied, and connected game world, where survival goes far beyond traditional zombie waves.

The Early Access version already includes Lichtpalast with its various gameplay mechanics and the transition to a city. We want to continue expanding this world throughout development.

A particular focus is expanding the city. We want players to be able to clear more city districts of zombies, build their own base, and explore new areas and instanced content from there. The city already exists, but it is still in active development and is gradually being expanded with additional content and features.

Our plans for the full version include:

A larger, connected game world with additional city districts to unlock.

Additional maps, instanced areas, and varied challenges.

New zombie types, special enemies, and challenging boss fights.

More playable characters, weapons, equipment, and upgrade options.

Expansion of the base-building and defense systems.

Improved enemy AI and more balanced gameplay.

Further improvements to graphics, animations, sound effects, and the user interface.

Better performance and greater stability in online co-op with up to eight players.

Our goal is to develop the initial fight for survival in Lichtpalast into a broader zombie survival experience, where players work together to open up new areas, secure their position, and face increasingly difficult challenges.

The content described above reflects our current development goals. The exact scope and order of these additions may change during Early Access based on technical requirements and feedback from our community.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version of NO SUNRISE already offers a fully playable, wave-based zombie survival shooter for single-player and online multiplayer with up to eight players.

Lichtpalast is already fully playable. All of its intended zombie waves can be played through and completed either solo or together with up to seven other players.

In Lichtpalast, players fight through successive zombie waves, earn credits, repair barricades, open new areas, and improve their weapons and equipment. Different enemy types, special waves, defensive options, and weapon upgrades provide a variety of challenges.

After successfully completing the zombie waves in Lichtpalast and refueling their getaway vehicle, players reach the city. The first city district is already unlocked and playable. Players can explore their surroundings, fight zombies, and clear the area of the infected.

The city is the starting point for the further development of the game world. Additional city districts, expansion of the base system, and further instanced content are still in development and are intended to be added gradually during Early Access.

Gameplay mechanics already included:

Fully playable zombie waves in Lichtpalast.

Single-player and online co-op with up to eight players.

Different zombie types, special waves, and several difficulty settings.

Purchasing and upgrading weapons, with an inventory of up to three weapon slots.

Weapon upgrades at the NOVA CORE tuning station and random weapons from the weapon vending machine.

Barricades, traps, machine guns, and turrets for defense.

Drink vending machines that grant additional perks, along with various combat bonuses.

Reviving downed teammates.

Transitioning from Lichtpalast to the city after successful completion.

An already unlocked and playable first city district.

NO SUNRISE remains in active development. While Lichtpalast can already be completed in full, the city in particular is still being expanded. Existing content is also being continually improved in terms of game balance, enemy behavior, performance, and multiplayer stability.

As this is an Early Access version, bugs, technical limitations, and unbalanced gameplay situations may still occur.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, we plan to increase the price of NO SUNRISE when the full version is released.

During Early Access, we want to give players the opportunity to buy the game at a lower price and follow its development from the beginning.

As development progresses, we will expand the game world, open up additional city districts and instanced areas, and add new enemies, weapons, characters, and other gameplay mechanics.

The planned price increase for the full version is intended to reflect the broader scope of the game and the additional content.

We will inform the community in advance through Steam about the final pricing and any upcoming changes.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is intended to play an important role in the continued development of NO SUNRISE. We do not simply want to release updates; we also want to understand how the game actually feels to players and what ideas they have for its future.

Through the Steam discussion forums, players can share their experiences, report bugs, suggest improvements, and contribute new ideas. We are interested in technical problems as well as personal opinions about the gameplay and requests for future content.

We are particularly interested in how NO SUNRISE plays with different numbers of players. What works well solo can feel completely different with eight players. This makes feedback on difficulty, weapon balance, enemy AI, and surviving together especially valuable.

We also want to involve the community as we continue expanding the city. Which areas should we develop next? What options would players like for their base? Which new enemies, locations, or challenges would fit the game world? Suggestions like these can help us guide development in the right direction.

Through Steam announcements and update notes, we want to regularly show what we are working on, what has been added, and which problems have been fixed.

Of course, we cannot implement every idea. However, we want to take suggestions seriously, discuss them with players, and incorporate good ideas into development wherever possible.

NO SUNRISE should be developed not only for the community, but also with it. We particularly welcome players who join us during Early Access, put the game through its paces, and openly tell us when something is not yet working as it should.”

About This Game

NO SUNRISE is a 2.5D zombie survival shooter for up to 8 players in online co-op or solo play. Gather your friends, hold the entrances together, upgrade your weapons and rescue your teammates when the horde breaks through.

Your fight for survival begins in the Lichtpalast: a cinema whose barricades won't hold forever.

Every wave you survive brings you closer to escape. Earn credits, open new routes and decide

whether to invest in your equipment or your team's defenses.

Survive the cinema. Fuel the vehicle. Reach the city. Your fight against the infected continues there.

FEATURES

  • Online co-op for up to 8 players. Gather up to seven friends, secure different entrances and watch each other's backs. No fixed classes: everyone can fight, repair, build defenses and rescue others.

  • Make it through the entire Lichtpalast on your own, too. All zombie waves can be completed in single-player or together in multiplayer. Choose the difficulty that suits your group.

  • From the Lichtpalast to the city. Complete the waves in the cinema and fuel your escape vehicle. Then reach the first unlocked, playable city district, explore its streets and clear them of zombies.

  • Barricades that buckle under the onslaught. Zombies tear apart the boards covering your windows. Repair the entrances, earn credits as you do and buy your team precious time.

  • New doors, new opportunities. Open more areas of the cinema, unlock connecting routes and give yourself room to evade the horde. Decide which position to defend and when to move on.

  • Traps, machine guns and turrets. Prepare choke points, secure vulnerable entrances and activate traps at the right moment against larger groups of zombies.

  • Carry three weapons at once. Build your own arsenal and switch weapons when the horde gets too close. Buy weapons and ammunition with credits you earn by playing.

  • Upgrade your weapons instead of just replacing them. Improve your equipment at the NOVA CORE upgrade station. Greater damage and penetration help you keep pace with the more dangerous waves.

  • Let the weapon crate decide. Spend your earned credits and receive a random weapon. Expand your arsenal or try a different tactic.

  • Drinks and combat bonuses. Gain extra advantages at drink vending machines and collect bonuses such as "Max Ammo" and "Double Credits" when supplies run low in battle.

  • Zombies that put your defenses to the test. Face sprinting undead, tough special enemies and crawlers with leaping attacks. Special enemies await you every fourth wave.

  • Rescue your teammates before time runs out. Being downed doesn't mean you're out. Hold off the horde and reach your teammates in time to revive them.

  • Direct controls in 2.5D. Move your character with WASD and aim independently with the mouse. Dodge the horde, keep your enemies in your sights and cover your teammates.

Assemble your team. Survive the Lichtpalast. Fight your way into the city.
