What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want to build Undaria alongside the community. Early Access gives us the opportunity to gather feedback on balance, progression, combat, extraction mechanics, and new content while the game is still actively evolving.

Player feedback will help shape what we improve, expand, and prioritize as we work toward the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Undaria to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 months, though this may change depending on development progress and community feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version of Undaria to feature more underground layers to explore, additional enemies and bosses, expanded equipment and character progression, more town inhabitants and services, and further development of the Great Lift and town rebuilding systems.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Undaria is playable in both solo and cooperative multiplayer and includes the core gameplay loop of exploring underground areas, fighting enemies, collecting equipment and resources, extracting through the Great Lift, and progressing between expeditions.

The Early Access version includes the first portion of Undaria, with additional content, systems, enemies, equipment, and areas planned throughout development. The game is a complete experience, but will be improved with community feedback and suggestions for the 1.0 release. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Pricing may change as Undaria develops and expands during Early Access. Any changes will be communicated ahead of time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to actively gather feedback from players throughout Early Access, particularly around combat, balance, progression, extraction mechanics, multiplayer, and new content.

We also want the community to be involved in discussions around future enemies, equipment, underground areas, town features, and other additions to Undaria. Feedback from Steam discussions, our community channels, and player reports will help guide what we improve and prioritize during development.”

About This Game

Undaria is a cooperative, PvE-focused extraction role-playing game set in a huge stylized voxel world that lies beneath a once-great kingdom.

In ancient times the people of Undaria constructed the Great Lift and went down deep into the earth, where they found vast caverns, strange civilizations, and resources which transformed their kingdom. However, their expansion ultimately led them to the Blight, a corruption that spread through the depths, distorted its inhabitants, and caused the downfall of Undaria.

The Great Lift is once again in motion generations later.

Descend Into Undaria

You can go on your own or in company into vast underground areas containing deserted settlements, mines, forgotten ruins, dangerous creatures, and the blighted remnants of the civilisation that came before you. For each expedition, you have to decide whether to go deeper in hope of better rewards or to return to the surface before the dangers below become too great.

The more extended your stay, the greater the benefits you will receive, but anything you take underground is in danger.

Fight, Loot, Extract

To survive in the depths as you search for equipment, rare resources, and anything else worthwhile to take back to the surface, you can use melee weapons, ranged weapons, and magic. If you successfully extract yourself then your loot is yours, but if you die below the surface you could lose what you were carrying.

Death doesn't necessarily mean the end of that gear as well; if the Blight takes you, your dead character can reappear later on in an expedition as a Blighted enemy. Locate them, kill them, and you might be able to get back some of what you've lost.

Bring the Surface Back to Life

The area around the Great Lift has long been deserted, but your expeditions can cause it to be abandoned no longer. Survivors who have been rescued from below will come back to the surface and reconstruct the town near you, reopening the workshops, setting up shops, and unlocking new equipment, crafting, quests, and services.

The more advance you go underground, the more the world above starts to recover as well.

Push Deeper

When Undaria fell, the Great Lift suffered severe damage and a large part of the underground area is now unreachable. If you want to go any deeper, you'll have to explore each level, fight powerful Blighted creatures, get back the things required to repair the Lift, and make preparations for whatever is waiting down there.

As you progress towards the source of the Blight and the truth regarding Undaria's fall, each new depth introduces different environments, enemies, resources, dungeons, and bosses.
