Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want player feedback to shape ABYSSAL as its body-building, combat and progression expand. Early Access lets us develop the playable survival game alongside its community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently estimate approximately 6–12 months in Early Access, starting from its launch. This is a development estimate; building and testing additional stages and responding to player feedback may affect the schedule. We will explain any changes through Steam announcements.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand beyond the petri dish with more environments, organs, enemy types and larger-scale evolution. Online play is an idea we want to investigate, not a current feature or a guaranteed addition. The roadmap may change with testing and feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The paid Early Access release is not yet available. The current Demo covers petri-dish growth, colony editing, organ upgrades and fusion, escape, and single-cell Endless survival with Steam rankings. We will update this section with the exact paid build contents before Early Access launches. The CG depicts our creative vision, not additional playable stages.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to keep the same base-game price during Early Access and at the full release. Existing owners will receive base-game updates and the full release without purchasing the game again. If we later release separate, optional DLC, it may be sold separately with its contents and price clearly stated.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use Steam discussions for bug reports, balance feedback and body-build ideas, and to post update notes explaining changes. Player feedback will help set priorities.”

About This Game

Start with the free Demo: petri-dish growth, colony building and single-cell Endless survival.

Hunt. Evolve. Build your own monster.

There is no safe place in this food chain. ABYSSAL is a dark 2D biological survival game where you seize nutrients, slip between predators, and turn a tiny cell into a creature of your own design.

Your body is your strategy

Drag mouths, spikes, flagella and support structures onto your body, then set their position and angle. Commit to a frontal bite, threaten the flanks, or build for mobility and circle back for the kill. Buy, upgrade, sell and fuse organs to try new combinations. Herbivores, carnivores and omnivores each offer a different way to survive.

Turn a close call into a comeback

Fill your experience bar, then choose when to evolve. Leveling restores all your health and opens your next DNA modification session. Find an opening, reshape your body, and return to the fight with a new plan.

Form a colony. Break the glass.

Normal mode takes you from a single cell to a symbiotic colony. Drag cells to shape your body and combine feeding, propulsion, defense and recovery. Follow the fracture in the enormous petri dish, break the glass yourself, and guide your whole body through the opening.

One cell. An endless build to chase.

Endless mode expands a single cell from 4 organ ports to 16, with organs you can keep strengthening. Every two minutes of active combat, ecological pressure rises. Contest the remains, dodge a hungry mouth, and seize your chance to strike back. Set your best survival time on Steam’s global, friends and nearby-player leaderboards.

A different life with every new run

Animated organs, contact-based predation and distinct hit reactions bring your builds to life. Each mode has its own save, with ten interface languages supported. The free Demo includes petri-dish growth, colony editing, glass-breaking escape and single-cell Endless survival. The laboratory beyond the dish and evolution at larger scales are directions for future development of the full game; the opening CG presents that creative vision.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Generative AI was used during development to create some pre-generated artwork and textures, cinematic video and audio, and to assist with writing and localization. These assets were selected and integrated before release. The game does not generate AI content or connect to AI services during play.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Contains creature predation and combat, organic tissue and meat fragments, dark biological imagery, and a pre-rendered cinematic showing monsters swallowing animals and destroying urban and science-fiction environments.
