What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I wanted to make Go Together feel like sitting down across from another person and giving each other a little time. Early Access lets me develop that experience with feedback from the people playing it. I would like to hear how the board feels to use, how clearly the game explains what is happening, and how enjoyable the computer opponents are to play against. My aim is to create a thoughtful, welcoming place to enjoy Go, whether you are learning or returning to the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I currently expect Go Together to remain in Early Access for roughly 6–12 months. This is an estimate and may change depending on development progress and player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to refine the board interaction, menus, camera options and overall presentation, and expand the choice of environments, boards and stones. I would also like to make the computer opponent settings clearer and offer more options, and explore online play so people can share a board from different places. These are development intentions, and the scope may change based on testing and player feedback. Online multiplayer is not included in the current version.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Go Together currently supports local two-player games on one device and solo matches against three computer opponents: my own built-in opponent, KataGo, and a C# adaptation of Michi. Each opponent has configurable settings and explanations of its approach. Games can be played on 9 × 9, 13 × 13 and 19 × 19 boards, with provisional stone placement, turn confirmation, illegal-move feedback, captures and end-of-game scoring.
A guided introductory tutorial covers stone placement, liberties and capturing, alongside a separate practice mode. Mouse, keyboard and gamepad controls are included, with multiple camera views and adjustable display, graphics and audio settings.
Players can choose from four environments, including a quiet ricefield, a forest and a fireside setting, along with three board styles and six stone sets. There are also selectable and unlockable hand cursors, decorative stone containers, three interface styles, and a gallery of historical Go artwork. Music, environmental ambience and interaction sounds accompany play, with a music player for selecting tracks.
I am continuing to refine the presentation, usability, opponent behaviour and performance. Bugs and rough edges should be expected. Online play against other people is not currently available.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to keep Go Together at the same price throughout Early Access and after its full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I welcome players’ experiences, suggestions and bug reports through the Steam discussions and the Go Together Discord community. I am especially interested in what makes the game easier to understand, more comfortable to control and enjoyable to return to. I plan to use that feedback to help prioritise improvements and share what I am working on through development updates.”

About This Game

An empty board. Two people. A little time.

Go Together brings the ancient board game of Go to a physical 3D table. Sit down with someone beside you, or choose a local computer opponent and explore the game at your own pace.

Place black and white stones on the intersections of the board, surround territory, and watch a position take shape one move at a time. Simple pieces leave room for thoughtful decisions.

Share the board

Play a local two-player match on the same device. Take turns from opposite sides of the table, with a camera that can move to the active player's seat, or use a view from directly above.

Find your own pace

Choose a 9 x 9, 13 x 13 or full 19 x 19 board. Play against our own local opponent or KataGo, each with its own approach and adjustable settings. Both run on your computer, without an AI subscription.

Click and drag a stone, or select it and then choose its place. Your move stays provisional until you end your turn. Illegal placements receive a hint, leaving you free to consider another move.

A quiet place to think

Choose between three interface styles, use a mouse and keyboard or a gamepad, and take a closer look at historical Go artwork in A Shared History.

Why Go Together?

I wanted to make a game that feels like sitting down across from another person and giving each other a little time. Go has strategy and competition, but I also see curiosity, patience and respect in it. That is the feeling I want Go Together to offer.

The current game supports local play. Online multiplayer is not currently included.
