What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“There is a lot of reasons, but the main one is because I have negative marketing skills and having the game out on steam is the best way to start building a community for the game. Also getting feedback from players while expanding on the game is going to be much better than spending a year working on it in the dark... I am a perfectionist and it does pain me a lot to make the game early access, but I feel like if I just keep waiting to release the game it won't really change anything.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I would assume like 2027 at some point.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Lots more stuff... creatures, biomes, faction mechanics, spirit abilities, end game crisis scenarios... This game is similar to Minecraft in a way where I can essentially add so many different things and I'm open to suggestions. One of the big changes I'm looking to add eventually is multiplayer where you can play Co-op or just fight each other. Also, a original soundtrack eventually.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“I think it represents the fundamentals of the game pretty well... It works... I'm not sure what to say here. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yeah, after each major update I will probably increase the price of the base game. It is a strategy game and usually every update is like a 20$ dlc but I'm not going to do that because that is super cringe. If you happen to get the game now all updates are just going to be in the base game and you don't need to pay anything else.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Not quite sure right now... I have a discord server you guys can put suggestions in or just comment on one of my posts on X. ”

About This Game

Worldbuilding

Spirithale is worldbuilding game where you literally build the world from the ground up as one of the world's many spirits. The spirits however are not gods, and their powers are limited to how much they have created in the world. Gain power by forming the world's regions and filling them with different types of flora, earth formations, creatures and biomes. Sapient factions will also develop in the world, and they use the resources around them to survive. In the right conditions loyal factions will help their worshiped spirit protect or invade more lands and can create buildings and wonders to provide powerful bonuses to their spirit.

How does it start?

Starting a new world will create a pre-generated empty canvas of all the world's regions from the start. The world is one big ocean, but the spirits will start in their own areas with only a small amount of land to their name. From there they can expand the land or claim new regions in the world slowly filling the ocean with landmasses. Each region is pre-generated from the start however not all of them are equal, some regions may favor certain types of biomes or have unique features that can be restored like river segments that can through different regions.

Progression

Naturally all the spirits don't start with every single ability unlocked and they only start off with basic decisions to expand regions. Throughout the game the main resource to unlock new powers is insight which is used to unlock boons, new creations and abilities.

Winning/God Simulator Mode

In a normal game the game will end after a certain number of days. Whichever spirit has the most victory points wins. The points are based on how many revelations they unlocked and their total domain size of their impact on the world. However, there is an alternative god simulator mode which in which you are the only spirit and can play forever or test certain mechanics out as well.
